With I’ll Have Another and the Triple Crown garnering so much attention in horse racing, we should remember that the New York Triple Tiara for three year-old fillies kicks off on Memorial Day at Belmont Park with the Acorn Stakes (G1). Read More

  • AndyScoggin · What a great group of fillies. Grace Hall was SO impressive in her last race, but then there is Baffert. Could he take down the Oaks/Derby Double? · 39 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · @Andy - Baffert is in a dream spot right now with Princess Arabella, Mamma Kimbo and Eden's Moon, and that's just the fillies! I agree, Grace Hall looked amazing and won with very little effort. · 38 days ago ·

  • Leo90 · Reneesgotzip would always be my winning ticket in the Kentucky Oaks as well. Las Virgenes was an unfortunate race but in the Oaks, she’ll be bigger and better. Eden’s Moon is a tough contender, but then what race would it be if the field wasn’t strong enough? http://www.horseracingnation.com/blogs/derbywars/ · 47 days ago ·

Reneesgotzip gained revenge on 1-2 favorite Eden’s Moon in Saturday’s Grade I, $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks, but she failed to resist late-running 13-1 shot, Willa B Awesome, in Santa Anita’s premier event for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles. Read More

  • Floridaf · You made very good points about Yara and Zo Impressive in regards to some of their previous races. Personally, I think Disposablepleasure is much better than her 4th place Davona Dale finish would suggest; just look back to her gritty win in the Demoiselle. I believe the match-up between Eden's Moon and Reneesgotzip will be the best of the weekend in the 3-yo filly division. Maybe we can get another BL/HDG rivalry going. Great analysis, Brian! · 58 days ago ·

  • BrianAppleton · Thanks Ashley! I agree with regard to Disposablepleasure. The Davona Dale was her first race of the year and I think she will benefit off that effort, but I don't think she'll get to the top two. All of these fillies are coming into the races looking really good. · 58 days ago ·

Corey Nakatani is on an ideal horse in the Pete Miller-conditioned Reneesgotzip. In two rides, the 41-year-old Covina native has two wins, leading virtually throughout each race and being further in front at the finish than he was at the head of the stretch.Read More
Unbeaten Santa Ynez Stakes winner Reneesgotzip worked five furlongs on Hollywood Park’s Cushion Track Sunday in a bullet 59.40, handily from the gate, for Saturday’s Grade I, $250,000 Las Virgenes Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at one mile. Read More
This filly seems tough with her Beyer speed rating of 98 in her only effort. She seemed to enjoy a easy lead and sometimes inexperienced horses who have to later battle more on the front end with more seasoned horses sometimes falter and fold, and don't show the same kind of dominance. This filly will be tough to beat, but if Candrea can battle with her early, then Candrea's experience or seasoning could lead to Reneesgotzip faltering or folding. So trying to beat Reneesgotzip on top of a straight exacta seems logical, based upon odds possibly.
  • MichaelPavelick · I think this was a case of the local experts (trainers jockeys) who were probably aware of how hot this filly was and simply backing off going after her. Canrea looked tough, but really didn't going after her in the early part of the race. Candrea then just backed off in my view under the Jockey's guidance. Looks like Reneesgotzip to win was the saver wager. Learning lesson when making saver wagers. Tough game. Candrea will bounce back and be a nice overlay in the proper spot. · 128 days ago ·
