Turkoman. Loved him! I "get" why Lady's Secret was voted Horse of the Year, but I really thought Turkoman had earned it, and deserved it.

travel_vic · It was well known that the track at Anita did NOT favor the late moves f Turkoman and Precisinonist was too short at 10 furlongs. I had seen Skywalkers LGA MLE and KNEW he was right between them. We all had steak that night as this was right after we all hit Manila/Theatrical · 272 days ago ·

footlick · t_v-Precisionist could win at 10f. The race just had to set up right. He won at 10f before. No, he wasn't a true 10f horse, but you could never dismiss him, like you just did. Everytime he came out on the track he was a threat, even when they unretired him and he lost a step, he still was a threat. A very talented horse. · 272 days ago ·

LAZMANNICK · Footlick I agree. I always thought of Precisionist as one of those horses that could win G1 races going short or long. He was a G1 winner of the ’85 BC Sprint in 1.08 2/5; won the G1 Californian getting the mile in 1.33 3/5 (the previous year finishing second when Greinton won this race in 1.32 3/5 which tied Buckpasser’s time as the second fastest ever); won the G1 Woodward at 9F in 1.46 flat; and won the G1 Swaps by ten lengths and getting the 10F in 1.59 4/5. The one thing about him was he ran in an awful lot of ultra tough races including four Breeders Cups and his highest odds in 46 races was 7-1 twice and those in BC races. Travel Vic might have eaten stake after that ‘86 BCC when he had Skywalker. I’ll admit I had to cut back to chicken because my money was on Precisionist. · 272 days ago ·

travel_vic · Precisonists could NOT win at ANita THAT day with the pace scenario overloaded early. EACH race is a different challenge and out front alone on the lead at 10 is one thing but being pressed the whole way around in another. Good horse, but not in the pace scenario that day at that distance: Skywalker stood out. · 272 days ago ·
