Older Comments about Rapid Redux...

Drove by the track at Charles Town and thought of RR was wondering how this guy was doing and found some nice photos of him over at Old Friends...... http://www.oldfriendsequine.org/horses/rapid-redux-3687.html
even though he never raced in stakes races, VERY underrated horse.

  • goblin · Rapid Redux's first race was a MSW at Belmont. He later started in two stakes at Monmouth; the Tyro, in which he finished 3rd; and the Long Branch, in which he finished 8th. Equibase, of course, contains more detail. · 1521 days ago
Rapid Redux to be Pensioned at Old Friends: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/70069/rapid-redux-to-be-pensioned-at-old-friends
Will be shipping this week to his retirement home at the Kentucky Horse Park, an attempt to prepare him to race this year was made but do to a chronic, lingering foot injury the conections decided to do what was best for him. At the horse leisure home he'll be in the company of Cigar and Funnycide according to DRF.

  • lapswimmer · I heard that his owner is trying to make arrangements to possibly send him to the secretariat center at the kentucky horse park. Guess they feel that he can have a second career. Best of luck in finding him a home! · 1802 days ago
  • buckpasser · It will be nice to see him with Funny Cide and Cigar. I am not sure The horse park didn't want him. They wer caught off guard when the owner said he was going there. Because no one had told the horse park · 1802 days ago
has been retired

  • buckpasser · He deserves it. He's done everything asked of him and more. Will look forward to seeing him at the Horse Park · 1804 days ago
  • lapswimmer · UPDATE: Rapid Redux will not be retired to the Kentucky Horse Park, officials there have told the Paulick Report. However, it is believed Rapid Redux's owner Robert Cole is in dicussions with the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation to place the gelding at the TRF's Maker's Mark Secretariat Center at the Kentcky Horse Park. The Secretariat Center is used by the TRF to re-train retired Thoroughbreds for new careers off the racetrack. · 1804 days ago
Where is he? Is he hurt? has he been working?

Yes, this horse wins alot. But against who? Always the same horses, on the same dirt track, at the same level - Starter allowence. Rapid Redux has yet to be really tested. Yes, a pig with lip stick will look better than a pig without, but this doesnt make the pig a super star.

i love this horse even though i dont really like him as a racehorse yeah i know makes little since but i love any horse that races and even a horse who never wins i will stilll rate them a 10 even if they should never be rated a 10
  • bigfootmauler · rating is what you believe they deserve! what is posted on here is just mearly a "guidline" that you dont have to follow! lol · 1915 days ago
nice winning streak, but no horse will ever win 30 wins in 1 year like the Iron Gelding Jorrocks did
Looks like our Vox Populi Award winner didn't come out of his last race to sound, he was sore and fatigued. He has been given a few months off from training and racing according to DRF. Andrew Buyer wrote an article on him as well. http://www.drf.com/news/beyer-rapid-redux-spiced-weak-year
Would like to see him make a run for the BC Classic.

  • shadowno · Being by Plesantly Perfect out of a Storm Cat mare this guy was without a doubt a stakes hopeful. In fact he is stakes placed. Granted he finished 3rd in a 3 horse field, but stakes placed nonetheless. It seems certain that physical conditions (He runs in 4 wraps) rather than genetics derailed his promise. He has done pretty darn well regardless. · 1926 days ago
  • likin sparks · Yea, he raced in a couple stakes races but was with previous connections that had more interest in other horses in the barn and never invested the training to see his full potential, instead he went to claims. He was fortunate to end up with better connections and good intentions. · 1926 days ago
What an awesome little horse...so happy for him and his connections!
22 consecutive wins is amazing :))
Winner of the "Vox Populi" award! WELL DESERVED!
I find it funny that when Zenyatta was racing people used to complain that she never raced against any tough competition and that she didnt deserve HOY. Now with Rapid Redux people are saying that it doesn't matter who you race against and that he deserves HOY for running in starter and allowance races.

  • icyhotboo · @GregRiessland, CraigBradshaw takes every opportunity to point out the East Coast Bias and it gets tiresome, irritating, and is just ignorant. This site has fans from all over the world but a select few never mention any horse in a good light unless it's born and bred in California. While California has had some great one so have many other states and countries. I was under the impression that a civil war was fought to preserve the union between north/south but on this site their making a new east/west one, sic people and boring. My statement stands. As for horses like Rapid Redux and a little higher they are the backbone of racing not these great 3yos who retire to stud to produce more studders. · 1939 days ago
  • travel_vic · the East coast bias is real: more racing in the east, usually better horses top to bottom and more writers. It is only natural · 1938 days ago
He does it again!! 22nd consecutive. Congrats to this great horse

  • GregRiessland · i agree with craigbradshaw · 1939 days ago
  • icyhotboo · I wish I had a horse like him. He keeps owners with little reserves in the ballgame. You might want to look at his earnings and management as it's a textbook example of making the best with what you have to work with. · 1939 days ago
lol comon racing in stater allowance races against 10 yr olds
This horse is so overrated, He's faced weak fields time and time again. One stakes race in his career and he finished last, If he would enter one he would lose.
  • travel_vic · granted, but keeping a claimer in that kind of shape, that long, is worth noting.... · 1939 days ago
  • likin sparks · Yea, must be the worst horse ever to win 22 in a row...horses do this everyday just like people writing about something thing have no history on. ;-) · 1939 days ago
He will run in a few races in 2012, they said, then he'll retire.
I want to like this horse, I really do, but I don't know why, but I just can't. I feel bad just because he has won 21 races straight, but he needs to race in better competition!!!!!! 21
  • likin sparks · Looks like your never gonna like him cause his career is about over, remember it's not the horses decision when and where they race just be happy that he has been treated well by his connections, he wins and comes home healthy. · 1948 days ago
