What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Qaraaba...

Any news on Qaraaba?? Watchmaker over at DRF took her off his Watchmaker Watch list, she had been ranked #2 on the turf females list. I haven't seen anything regarding her running in the Santa Barbara Handicap which was reported to be the plan after she won the Frankel. Any news on how she's doing?
  • zatt · Unfortunately, Qaraaba was retired after a ligament issue and will be bred this spring. · 39 days ago ·

Trainer Simin Callaghan said that Robert J. Frankel Stakes winner Qaraaba is on course for the Grade II Santa Ana Stakes at nine furlongs on turf March 24.
Robert J. Frankel Stakes winner Qaraaba worked four furlongs on Santa Anita’s fast main track Saturday in 47.40 for trainer Simon Callaghan.
Simon Callaghan Monday morning amended his post-race quotes that had Robert J. Frankel Stakes winner Qaraaba pointing next to the Santa Barbara Handicap on April 20. “She came out of the race good and she’s perfectly sound this morning,” the trainer said of the 5-year-old English-bred mare, who was making her first U.S. start. “Maybe we’ll go to the Santa Ana in March (24). We’ve got the Gamely and the Beverly D in mind down the road as well. We’ll figure it out.”
First it was Dubawi Heights, whom he campaigned to be one of the top turf females in the country last year, for an ownership team that included his father, Neville. I was very impressed when I saw her tenacious second place finish in person in last year’s Beverly D at Arlington Park, and that perfor...Read More

  • marylandgq · IMHO Qaraaba (GB) was fortunate to catch a "GOOD" turf surface @ SA, one she was used to running on in Eurpoe. This might be the only time that will happen in So. Cal. I'll reserve opinion of her until AFTER her next race on a FIRM turf suface. · 138 days ago ·

She looked fantastic today in the Robert J Frankel. She will be one I keep my eye on in 2013
