What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Pure Cajun...
Post comment to my Facebook profile
Pure Cajun
Pure Cajun broke a front ankle this morning jogging at Fairgrounds and was put down on the track. He never fell or threw his rider (thank god). Rest in peace young boy. You were loved. My condolences to his connections.

Isn't that the HRN poster yayasister's horse? I think it is. Very sad, especially for those owners.

Thank you, everyone. I have been crying all morning. I had just signed up last week for a tiny portion of three more horses-- not sure my heart is in it any more. By all accounts it was just an accident. He wasn't racing. i went to the barn as much as possible and i gave him peppermints and kisses. Im glad his rider wasn't hurt and I feel badly for Dallas and all the people at the barn who worked with him daily. IDK. A sad day...

You should definitely stay involved, yayasister. I enjoy reading your posts and I love seeing new (Your new to horse racing right?) people fall in love with the sport. Sorry, again, for your loss. I understand your pain, it has happened to me before.

Thank you. I was warned that there would be high highs and low lows, but simply can't believe this. Surreal. I am so sorry to anyone who has experienced this... my heart is heavy and sad. Yes, I am new to the sport-- the first time I ever went to a horserace was last month when PC raced for the first time. I'll take some time off; don't want to spoil your fun about the derby trail. I appreciate your responses more than you know.

I too, know what it's like to lose a friend. An equine friend. I lost my horse in October, and I cried for many days. She touched my heart, she really did. I keep seeing her in my dreams. Please, stay with us, yayasister, and stay strong. He will always be in your heart :)

Pure Cajun took 5th at Fair Grounds on 12/29/12. He has speed and was challenged and responded, but tired and faded to 5th. His next race should be in a few weeks at FG.

Pure Cajun (his name is Pierre, or sometimes I call him Pete) will race on Saturday at Fair Grounds. I don't know what race or PP yet. I assume Brian Hernandez jr. Will be jockey.

Pure Cajun
Pure Cajun has a strong personality at the barn. He tolerates people and wants to dominate.

I visited him at the barn this weekend and he promptly turned around in his stall so that his rump was facing me and then pooped. lol. Gotta love his attitude!

He had post position one, so Hernandez, Jr broke him early and fast and Pure Cajun set the pace. He tired coming around the turn and then rallied to take 3rd. He earned a 56 Beyer for his first effort.
