What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Prime Cut...

Dark Cove, 4 ¼-length winner of the Elkhorn (Grade II) in his most recent start, tops a field of nine 3-year-olds and up entered for Saturday’s 76th running of the $100,000-added Louisville Handicap (GIII) at 1 ½ miles on the Matt Winn Turf Course at Churchill Downs.Read More
It’s not that I’ve never seen a horse do what Vyjack did yesterday, because I have. But in forty years of watching the races, I could probably count the number of horses that I have seen do it on one hand. What exactly did the undefeated son of Into Mischief do that was so extraordinary? Simple … co...Read More

  • head_heart_hooves · Vyjack went from being a pace-pressing sprinter in his first 2 to be a front-running router in his next - a logical extension. Certainly no one, absent the connections evidently, expected Vyjack to be so far off of the pace. That was anomolous even though the sample size is admittedly small. The fact he was able to win his toughest race while getting dirt in his face, etc, may not impress everyone, but it sure impresses me. With adaptability and ability to make your own trip so important in the large Derby field, this off-the-pace win is a nice feather in Vyjack's cap. · 81 days ago ·

Glad to see him back in the winners circle and he loves turf!
Courtlandt Farms’ Prime Cut, unhurried early, found running room along the inside in upper stretch, split rivals in the late stages and proved best by 1 3/4-lengths in Sunday’s allowance and $40,000 optional claiming feature at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.Read More
Some things just seem meant to be. A few weeks ago, it appeared the chances of Derby Kitten being part of the 137th Run for the Roses were slim to none. The son of Kitten's Joy had never won anything but a maiden race in eight tries. Although he had shown good form in 2011 including a fast closing 2...Read More

The Grade 1 Haskell was the deepest 3yo graded route of the summer with the Preakness and Belmont winners, and my number one ranked (since 6-29) 3yo Coil proved that his Swaps defeat was nothing more than a slight detour. Monday evening, admiring Strike Impact with all his dapples and the good flesh he carries, I felt pretty cocky, saying to Pat, “If he runs to his looks, he could be tough.” Strike Impact, the one-horse stable trained and partly-owned by my husband, Pat Dupuy, is targeting the $175,000-added, Grade I...Read More

  • icyhotboo · Shackleford's not a fast horse but he does grind away.Considering he is the lone speed with 10 deep closers and AK the lone horse with tactical speed it sets up for both of them unless we get a deep closer who happens to be a closer like MMM with all his shoes intact.Against everything I know about macho uno progeny being sprinters I like this horse for this track. · 716 days ago ·

  • jinlie01 · sometimes you have to go with your gut instincts icy. That's what kept me on the bandwagon of Shackleford in the Preakness after his Derby performance. Good thing I did. Still sticking with "Shack" in the Preakness because of his cruising speed and I think his running style will suit the Belmont turns. Kinda thinking about adding Brilliant Speed into the mix. He deserves a long look off his bloodlines and his grinding style of running. I know his dirt record is 0-3 but his Beyers have steadily improved and his KY Derby run wasn't bad considering he was running 8 wide on the far turn and only beaten less than 6 lengths. · 716 days ago ·
