What the Nation is saying about Presious Passion...

When entries were taken for Saturday’s Betfair/TVG United Nations Stakes, one name was missing, and the non-entry stuck out like a red flag. Patricia Generazio’s Presious Passion, who had won the last two editions of the Grade 1 U.N., was not named to the race. “Physically, he’s fine. He’s just not...Read More

Looking ahead to the United Nations Stakes on July 3, the horse who put on an exciting show the last two years, Patricia Generazio’s Presious Passion will be back to try for the hat trick in 2010. Presious Passion is back at Monmouth Park and ready to defend his title in the Monmouth Stakes on turf this Saturday. While the crowd will likely see the same old “Presious” style - go to the front and try to improve from there - the race will have two new additions this year, a Grade 3 status and ...Read More
There is always plenty to talk about after the Dubai World Cup. The 09' Arlington Million, the 09' Breeders Cup Turf, the 09' W.L. McKnight, and the 2010 Sheema Classic. Four races right off the top of my head I can think of that Presious Passion's ridiculous "run off from the field" front running style has cost him victories. Instead of maybe breaking sharp, and staying maybe 5 or 6 lengths ahead of the field, and then having something left in reserve. But with P.P., it's either all or nothing.
  • arazi · Presious Passion's unique run off style works only one way... on rock-hard turf courses. All of his success running off has been at Monmouth and Santa Anita, with some success at Gulfstream and Calder when they are firmer. On a deep weedy turf course like Arlington, Woodbine, Churchill, Fair Grounds, etc... he's got no shot whatsoever. · 125 days ago
I'll give Presious Passion one thing. He never fails to disappoint. When is this horse ever going to learn, that when you're racing some of the best turf horses in the world, that "I've got to go lead by 20 lengths" strategy will only serve to spell doom. As it just did in Dubai at Meydan in the 2010 Sheema Classic. Again, he bounded right out of the gate to go out about 10 lengths ahead of all the field but one. The Irish colt Golden Sword, who's been known to put on pace himself in races, stayed about 2 or 3 lengths off of Presious Passion. But at the 400 meters mark, both Presious Passion and Golden Sword were cooked. Golden Sword ending up 14th and Presious Passion ending up 16th of 16 runners. Jukebox Jury faded all the way back to 15th, which really surprised me. But that front running strategy of Presious Passion's has only been successful when the competition has been much weaker. Albeit, his stamina did hold up in the 09' B.C. Turf, but only to be caught by Conduit, again, one of the most successful turf horses in the world. But going against the likes of Dar Re Mi, Buena Vista, Spanish Moon, Cavalryman, and Deem, it only spelled defeat for him again. That's why I will NEVER bet dollar one on this horse. Because much more often than not, he run's himself completely out of too many races. TJMO.
In perusing the past performances for the 100 horses that were to run on this year's Dubai World Cup card, it struck me that most of these critters had earned enough. They needed the $26 million that the new Meydan race track was offering for seven races like Sheik Mohammed needs another manservant....Read More
Pat Generazio’s front-running Presious Passion figures to carry them a long way March 27 in the Dubai Sheema Classic Sponsored by Guangsha Group (UAE-I). • Medlocke · William Buick got Dar Re Mi to settle early in the race, and she just got a beautiful trip in the 2010 Dubai Sheema Classic. Spanish Moon closed very strongly as well, but Dar Re Mi had enough left in the tank to run on by him. Then Spanish Moon got nailed, in a photo, right at the wire by Buena Vista for second. Presious Passion, as usual, ran himself right out of any chance of winning this race again. Golden Sword, a front runner himself, went out with Presious Passion, and stayed just about 2 or 3 lengths off of him to challenge the pace. But by the time the field hit the 400 meter mark, Presious Passion was DONE, and faded to dead last. Finishing 16th out of 16 starters. For the record, even though P.P. ran a great race against Conduit in the 09' B.C. Turf, getting quality races like that out of him has become a real rarity of late. Because of his running style, I have never, and will never bet dollar one on this horse. TJMO. · 126 days ago

WILLIAM BUICK made a dream start to his partnership with John Gosden as he gave Dar Re Mi a well-judged ride to land the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic. Buick had the mare settled in fifth position from the off in the 1m4f contest as Presious Passion made sure they went a good gallop... Read More
  • bband · Dar Re Mi ran huge today. Ironically, about 5 minutes before the race, on the simulcast signal, trainer John Gosden when asked about her chances, says he looks for her to run well, but "Let's be honest, its late March and she's a mare, I don't expect her to be at her best until later in the year." Good lesson why you should never listen to trainers and they don't even know when their horses are doing great. · 126 days ago
Trainer Mary Hartmann took one look around the massive Meydan Racecourse and shook her head in amazement. “Have you ever seen anything like this?,” she asked. “I’ve been to Belmont Park, Santa Anita [Park], and a lot of other tracks, and they are all nice, but this is a totally different playing fie...Read More
