What the Nation is saying about Premier Pegasus...

Premier Pegasus, last year’s San Felipe Stakes winner and 8-5 morning line favorite to win the Santa Anita Derby before he was sidelined with an 11th-hour injury, has suffered a setback in his comeback attempt and will be given further recovery time over the next few months. “He had been galloping and was getting ready to breeze,” said Maria Ayala, assistant to owner/trainer/breeder Myung Kwon Cho. “We had to take the screw out that was inserted after he was hurt. He’s still at our barn at Santa Anita but needs more time.” Premier Pegasus came out of the San Felipe with a hairline fracture in the cannon bone of his left foreleg.
Not good news for now. Premier Pegasus didn't pass the xrays - will be turned out once again. Darn!!!! Maybe he will be bigger & stronger if/when he returns. I guess the screw didn't stay in the ankle right, or was a botched surgery, unsure on this. Sorry for the sad update, but its true.

  • rorschach1992 · Ahh, sorry about that! Here's my picks: 3yoM: Hansen, I've liked him from the get-go, and think his juvenile was no fluke, he is better than Union Rags and the lot. My dark horse for this award is Creative Cause. 3yoF: Weemissfrankie or Grace Hall. I think as they mature they'll overtake My Miss Aurelia. Older Female: Awesome Feather, if she keeps winning she'll be unstoppable. Royal Delta or Zazu; tremendous potential in both, and both willl be more mature next year. Grace will have to deal with more mature runners in this year's 3yo crop. They'll probably overtake her. Older Male: I like Pegasus, but I want to see how he looks upon returning before throwing him in. So my current pick is Game On Dude, if he stays consistent, he'll be the one to beat. Turf Horse Male: Agreed Mr. Commons, he ran great in the BC Mile, 5th not beaten too much, and could be a force. Another with great potential. Also want to see if Acclamation keeps his form. He'll be in the running if he does. Turf Female: Star Billing, Shirreffs could take both divisions with the two very talented 3yos. She's got as much talent as Mr. Commons. HOY: I'm going with Hansen, I've loved him all fall, and his BC was super impressive. If he keeps his form, he'll be the on to beat. I'm hoping he shows us great things next year. He's my Derby pick, and the one I'll be watching next year. But I think Awesome Feather could be dark horse for HOY, should she keep up her winning ways. No opinion on the 2yos yet. · 80 days ago ·

Want to see how he comes back
His connections are taking his time with his comeback. Most likely a December return, possibly the Malibu.

According to DRF: Premier Pegasus resumes light training Premier Pegasus, the winner of the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita in March, has been cleared to resume racetrack training after being given a five-month break for a hairline fracture of the cannon bone in his left foreleg. Maria Ayala, the assistant trainer to Myung Kwon Cho, said Premier Pegasus will begin jogging soon for an expected comeback this winter. “The doctor said he is okay for jogging,” Ayala said. Owned by Cho, Premier Pegasus was the morning-line favorite for the Santa Anita Derby in April when the injury was detected. A winner of 4 of 5 starts, including three stakes, Premier Pegasus has earned $293,400.

  • yukichan · From Raxon Cho on FB: riveting reason went through his first breeze earlier and all went perfectly. There is no published work, because the clockers could not get a time on him. Premier pegasus has been doing very well and is almost ready to fully start training. We are taking a lot time with him because we want to make sure he is 100% before we start training. Hopefully we will have him ready for the breeders cup, if not we will plan ahead into 2012. Thank You again for all the support. · 180 days ago ·

The Duel of the Divas at Delaware stamped Blind Luck as the top filly in the US this week. Read More
  • MarkRodriquez · Hard to say where Blind Luck will surface. She's perhaps the easiest shipper in history. She gets excited when the horse van pulls up. Really, Hollendorfer mentioned that to a reporter. As far as the Hirsch at Del Mar, It's not a sure thing, as Del Mar's Polytrack is ridiculous (and I'm a synthetic fan). You Saratoga fans might get to see both HDG and BL. I just wish BOTH trainers will stop bickering about a pound here or there. THERE'S A MUCH BIGGER PURPOSE AT STAKE HERE: SAVE YOUR SPORT! Another match would be fabulous. And a final match in the BC Classic would be perfect. · 218 days ago ·

  • ruffed grouse · Hollendorfer has already said he wants the Personal Ensign and there is some talk to increase the purse to get them both to run. He has also stated he does not want to run BL against the colts as he wants to race her next year as well. Running against the colts comes at a price and many fillies and mares tend to get a little on the nervous side when surrounded by the boys, it's not only a physical thing with most colts bigger and stronger but a mental thing. · 217 days ago ·

According to Raxon Cho, stablemate riveting reason began training with an exercise rider this morning and will be working towards the breeders cup. Premier pegasus will begin training sometime next week.
little birdy told me this horse could possibly make it to the breeders cup :)
Raxon Cho said that highly regarded 3-year-old colts Premier Pegasus and Riveting Reason are ready to resume training after injuries derailed them from the Triple Crown trail. “They are days away from returning,” said Cho. “We hope to have them ready to race at Santa Anita this fall.” Premier Pegasus won the Hollywood Prevue and San Felipe Stakes. Riveting Reason was second in the Robert Lewis Stakes…
Does anyone know if this horse has a timeline for a comeback this year? Many thanks.
