every time i watch this horse run on the turf and synthetic i think back to einstein's definition of insanity.
Returns for 3rd lifetime race for 3rd different trainer {Mullins} with quick works, blinkers on and huevos off in Saturday’s 6th @ SA.

  • amino998 · Not a light bulb but at least a flicker today. Still awkward and needs longer. Point for the BCC or BCTurf the next time it’s @ Belmont??? · 497 days ago

  • tmallios1 · Nathan,i'd love to see him go to our boy Shirrefs barn. He seems to have developed a strong food program lately. · 579 days ago
  • goblin · I'm wondering as well. Maybe he went back to Drysdale; isn't that where he was originally? · 579 days ago
:( hope he isn't done. He just needs time- like his daddy did

  • goblin · Now rafi, if someone has mentioned the old Southwest Conference, A&M, and TCU in one post on the previous Johnny Football (the horse) thread--where do you suppose that person has roots??? Think D/FW.... · 685 days ago
  • rafirox · Gob, once you posted that comment, I remembered you were an Aggies fan, and that some of your relatives have graduated from Texas A&M. Robert Griffin III looked horrendous in the fourth quarter, but he looked pretty good in the first three. I'm noticing fundamental issues, but then again I did not play football past high school, so I should not judge. Luckily, my 'Skins are only 1.5 games back of the weak division. My Niners are only a game back from the Seahawks. Did you see the Saints-Pats game, Gob? That was a great game. Have a good night. Talk to you later. · 685 days ago
His pedigree says long on the dirt. So get him long on the dirt. This isn't rocket science.

on July 14, Powerful worked 4F at Belmont Park on Fast Dirt in :48.19 b finishing 7/59.
Time to retire..
He is like the little boy that would rather look for bugs in the out field, than play baseball like the rest of the team.

If at first you don't succeed, try something radically different...After trailing and being eased in his debut over Cushion Track and 6 furlongs on the west coast, Powerful will make his 2nd start today at Belmont over 10 furlongs on turf; Joel Rosario up. It's a MSW listed for 3yos and up, but only 3year olds will be starting. Powerful will start near the inside in a field of 9.
Race 5 at Betfair today, If nothing else, he will be the most well bred and best looking animal on that track.

  • travel_vic · most babies learn incrementally: they "run" further into each progressive race until they overwhem the 2nd call pace of race, or are so dominant as they pass by most of the real cheap speed. Think for a minute ans ask yourself, on the dirt, how many MAIDEN winners come from way out of it? Not too many. · 820 days ago
  • Sullivan · " Only an ignorant tyro like Sullivan would even consider judging a first time starter. This race means NOTHING in the long term.. NOTHING. Intelligent people each and everyone, like LAZ and Lisa, know this was a damn MAIDEN race. I'm banging my head with the ignorance in which is displayed day in and day out by Cocoa2/Sullivan... Outclassed? Outclassed? Really? *FACE PALM" Yes, outclassed. · 799 days ago
An interesting change of scenery for Powerful, who's still listed as being trained by Neil Drysdale but has been moved to Belmont Park! Over their main track this morning, he worked 4 furlongs in :49.96 (13/24).
It seems that the hype was overdone but I hope he's okay.

  • Age of Reason · Relax, y'all. Powerful ran like he had absolutely no clue what was wanted of him--what do you expect from a first-time starter? Heck, Oxbow didn't even finish his first maiden race; he was eased and had to be vanned off the track. Going up in flames first time out doesn't necessarily indicate a complete lack of talent. · 820 days ago
