What the Nation is saying about Positive Response...

As the second half of the stakes schedule kicks into gear this week, fans won’t have to wait to see some top notch names. Entries were drawn today for the Grade 3 $150,000 San Francisco Mile and the race is being headlined by multiple stakes winner Jeranimo from the Michael Pender barn. Hall of Fame...Read More
There is just one week left in 2011 and while nobody knows what the future holds for Golden Gate Fields, one thing we do know, is the past year was a banner one for the little track by the bay. Trainers, jockeys and horses were thrust into the national spotlight over the past 12 months and I might b...Read More

We then hit the big money events starting on April 30th, with the Grade 3 San Francisco Mile. The SF Mile will be worth $100,000 this year, as it was reduced by the Graded Stakes Committee from a Grade 2 (that is was in 2010) to Grade 3 status this year. Expected to enter is the popular Bold Chiefta...Read More

I thought I would use this week to talk about some news and notes around Golden Gate Fields and update you on some horses and jockeys that I have mentioned over the past few months. • annmatt · I also like Sway Away, Mucho Macho Man, Anthony's Cross, Soldat, and of course, Unclo Mo. I guess the other factor though in my becoming so enamored with Dialed In, I have the distinct sense that HE KNOWS he can win from anywhere on the track! He can swing wide and still make up the ground...if he can do stuff like that and still turn up the jets and accelerate, then I just feel confident about his chances to go all the way. He runs like he really enjoys it! Zenyatta was like that! Maybe I just miss her (and for sure I do) on the track, but I'm hoping Dialed In will give us all a thrill once more like watching Zen fly! · 449 days ago ·

Positive Response has a speed over stamina pedigree. His sire gets sprinter/miler types and hasn’t produced a stakes winner at 1 1/8 miles. His damsire won at 1 ¼ miles and Positive Response’s dam won at two turns over the lawn. Positive Response is the first stakes winner in two generations of his distaff family.
It will be a battle of north versus south this Saturday at Golden Gate Fields, and you might just say there is a big opportunity that lies ahead for the winning connections. The main event is the $200,000 El Camino Real Derby and it will be run at 1 1/8 miles. Not only is this a major stepping stone...Read More

  • KyOaksRunner · I've been hearing some doubt as to wether or not Comma to the Top can get 1 1/8 miles especially in his 2011 debut, but I think he'll do fine. He's alread done a lot more than his pedigee say he should. I like the looks of Anthony's Cross and Silver Medallion as well. · 472 days ago ·

  • Captain.Don · I agree 12 clip and KYOaksRuner, I think the distance may be a problem for CTTT, especially if pressed by Jakesam. Peter Miller told me today that the horse can rate, but i don't think that will be the case. And i still consider CTTT to be from the south. It's all going to depend on how easy the early lead is for MIllers horse. · 472 days ago ·
