Took some photos of horses and horse farms around Lexington, Kentucky. A few have been updated to "http://www.flickr.com/photos/mylute/"

If you ever get the change, AmbitiousDragon, Calumet is probably the nicest farm I've ever been too.

Nice set, cocoa2>>Pink Pigeon was my introduction to bridge jumping one day at Hollypark when my dad, a VERY casual gambler, went down in flames making a $200 show bet on her trying to recoup some of the day’s expenses. Maybe the caption on Distorted Humor should mention that he’s just a random statistical outlier :D.

Thanks for the photos, cocoa! Good pic of Distorted Humor and of the Hamburg Cemetery. Had Einstein been rolling in the mud?!

Amino, thanks for the smile. Giants Causeway who I guess I didn't post is also a statistical outlier, and he has for multiple years. Don't forget Star Shoot either! Einstein and Ghostzapper had been having a great time outside, Ghostzapper was actually sunbathing, lying flat out on his side. My opinion of Adena changed in a minute, it was so nice to see them give their stallions occasional breaks in the breeding season and to see their stallions so alive. Everywhere else but Calumet the horses looked very unhappy, especially Winstar where the majority of the stallions sulked in the back of their stalls.

I like that the stallions had a roll in the mud! Happy for you that you were able to take the trip to the Blue Grass stakes and the farm tours, cocoa.

Thanks for the tip, Cocoa. I have not been to Kentucky yet, but when I do get out there, Calumet will be on the list.

That sounds like borderline mismanagement at Winstar>>After a relaxing day in the sun, I know I feel more like getting my shwerve on.

amino, the stallions still get their mares pregnant, just with the crazy number they are assigned to cover, it seems several do not have the libido they wish they did. And people say horses and humans aren't alike!

I went to a couple breedings at Adena South when I would go to Ocala for horseshows, and it was surprising to see the difference in libido between the stallions. Alphabet Soup, who had been covering mares for years, but had smaller books, was so excited he was borderline violent, while freshman Wilko was so busy he didn't seem to care at all. Stallion manager said it was more 'business' than pleasure for W

But the boys were all turned out 24/7 with the exception of the hour or so before coverings, pretty sure they were living the dream :P
