Many people have not heard of the Belair Stud performer. He was foaled in 1922 and was a well thought of handicap horse. He raced against Derby winner Whiskery and Preakness winner Display and also top horses Pompey and the great Black Maria. He more than held his own winning the Brookdale, the Brooklyn, the Edgemere twice, the Huron and Saranac, and Knickerbocker. At stud he sired the nice horse Top Row who was a winner of the Narragansett Special, Massachusetts Handicap and the Santa Anita Handicap. Ironically in the Narragansett Spevial he would best the mighty Discovery who a son of his father's great rival Display.

  • Sullivan · Okay, claimed for 3.5k at Gansett it would've been, and then the TR if memory holds up was at either 8f or 8.5f, the latter seems right · 888 days ago
  • Buckpasser · He had a track record for a mile at Santa Anita I think and a track record and world record for a mile 1/16 at Bay Meadows which was the San Francisco Handicap. I believe the race he set the track record for a mile was the Christmas Stakes. · 888 days ago
