  • tmallios1 · Buck, like you said,it is a tough game to make money.Let alone survive. If one examones it closer. The leading Eclipse owners have about 3 to 4 million earned. Some of them ,at various venues have over 100 horses in training. At almost $40K a year per horse. Do the math. Some of them do not earn anywhere near the figure i mentioned. That is why i laugh at interviews on TV and in the media. The politically correct things are said, for the love of the game.I know many of the trainers, the ones that get screamed at and have pressures put on them.Threatened they will take the horses away if the performance does not pick up.Does not make them Ogres or bad people.Makes them human, same with all of us in our private lives. You pay for something, you want the maximum return. · 452 days ago
  • Buckpasser · Tom. Absolutely right. You don't go into the sport to lose money and certainly the pressures to deliver are great. Saw the same thing in the hunter/ jumper world. · 452 days ago
This horse is Anazing!! What he has overcome and how he has come back to racing form! WOW!

  • airedale2008 · After what he has overcome, it would be fantastic, ruffianlover, and a great story for the Breeders Cup. Thoroughbred racing would receive plenty of good press with a win from the Baffert trained colt. Personally I’m for Game on Dude earning an Eclipse award this weekend. If Paynter won, I would have a big smile, though, lucky trip or not. · 453 days ago

on October 28, Paynter worked 5F at Santa Anita on Fast Dirt in 1:00.00 h finishing 8/26.
Think Hollywood would be interested in Paynter's story if he wins the Classic?

On October 14, Paynter breezed 5F in a minute flat (2/30) at Santa Anita Park.
Really proud of the way he ran. Especially for getting pushed out way far out into the track on the turn- he finished really well. I think he is doing remarkable after his prognosis a year ago. So glad to see him back and competing again, but I just don't think he is ready to run in the BC Classic. not sure where else I'd want him to run though as I think he wants longer than a mile.

On September 19, Paynter breezed 5F in 59:80 (3/37) at Santa Anita.
on September 14, Paynter worked 4F at Santa Anita on Fast Dirt in :47.20 h finishing 3/63.
Trainer Bob Baffert said that the post-race report was that Paynter was fine and would be returned to California and pointed for the Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita. “He missed the break and I didn’t like him running in the mud, but he’s fine,” Baffert said.”
Still a winner in my eyes.

With Fort Larned out, Paynter is gonna throw-down his impersonation of Game On Dude in the Pacific Classic. Flat Out, Mucho Macho Man, and Successful Dan to follow. Paynter goes to sleep Sunday night as the early BCC favorite.
