What the Nation is saying about Pashito the Che...

Trainer Scott Lake sent Tuna Stable’s and Off The Hook Stable’s 5-year-old Pashito the Che from the mid-Atlantic to capture the 2009 edition of the Jack Dudley Sprint in his only previous start at Calder, and he is back for another run in the six-furlong test and leading jockey Luis Saez getting the...Read More
Scott Lake remembers sitting in Tony Dutrow's living room a few years ago, watching a $50,000 claiming race from Delaware Park. Lake's horse won and Dutrow's horse was second. Within seconds, each trainer's phone rang. Dutrow's assistant called to tell him their horse had been claimed. Lake's assis...Read More
The best chance for one of the shippers for the three Sunshine Millions races at Gulfstream Saturday may come from Gary and Cecil Barber’s 6-year-old gelding Machismo, invading from California for trainer John Sadler to challenge This Ones for Phil in the $200,000 Sprint at six furlongs. Jockey Man...Read More
I can't tell you how excited I was for Sunshine Millions Day. When the Space Gal gave me her desired dates to head down south my eyes widened when I saw that the Saturday of the weekend we would be in South Florida was Millions Day...Read More
Rick Dutrow (This Ones for Phil) – “It was a great horse race. I’m glad everybody got to see it and I’m glad we were able to win it. When he won here last year (Sunshine Millions Dash) it was his first start for us, so we didn’t know what to expect, but he’s been breezing like clockwork and we expec...Read More
Gulfstream Park track announcer Larry Collmus described it best: “It’s a match race at the eighth-pole.” That it was. And at the wire, it was This Ones For Phil who narrowly defeated Pashito The Che after a ding-dong stretch duel in the Sunshine Millions Sprint at Gulfstream Park Jan. 30.Read More
Trainer Barry Abrams is known for frequently bringing back his horses on short rest. When he saddles Grade 3 winner Unusual Suspect in the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Classic Stakes on Saturday at Santa Anita Park, however, he will do so following a layoff of more than 3 1/2 months.Read More
Now that the gifts have been opened, the meals behind us, and the Christmas tree’s stint soon to end, racing fans turn their attention back to the greatest game in the world.  The 26th of December means the same thing every year, the opening day of Santa Anita and the normal return of racing in...Read More
When you're hot you're hot and when you're not you're not. The old adage certainly applied to the $200,000 Carl G. Rose Classic after Too Many Toyz registered his fourth straight victory with a thrilling one-length decision over the 3-5 favorite It's a Bird. The outcome completed a forgettable after...Read More
There is so much to discuss after the weekend's stakes extravaganza, but one race that likely had the most profound effect on the Breeders' Cup was the Goodwood Stakes (gr. I).Read More
  • Rossington · I say now or never for Zenyatta. If she had been entered in the Goodwood Stakes, Gitano Hernando or not, she could have won that race. There really wasn't much there to beat, imo. MTB who hasn't won a race since the Ky. Derby, Colonel John who runs well on the surface but is a bit overmatched in the Classic, Informed and Parading, whom neither have ran to par for some time now. So with Sea the Stars now retired, I say let Zenyatta run against the boys. Quality Road or Summer Bird are neither proven on the surface. Of the American entries, only Einstein may give her trouble. So let her run, so what if she finished 3rd to Rip Van Winkle and Midshipman. No shame in that. · 849 days ago ·
