For some reason, I don't think the Churchill Downs odds makers are going to be quite as high on this colt as Horseracingnation.com is in their power rankings. I think Odysseus will go off at a little bit of a price, which will probably make him a very good long-shot pick in the 2010 Kentucky Derby. I think it's kind of a "Musket Man" kind of thing with him. Because he's been racing at Tampa Bay, and not Gulfstream, Oaklawn, or Aqueduct. Musket Man went into the 09' Derby with wins in the Tampa Bay Derby and the Illinois Derby both, but if you'll remember was quite overlooked in favor of PON, Dunkirk, Friesan Fire, and others. I think the same situation my ultimately exist this year with Odysseus, possibly with the same kind of results. IMO.

  • arazi · Really good points. I think Odysseus and Schoolyard Dreams are both live Derby horses at this stage. · 2401 days ago
  • cigar · Everyone seems like... it's Eskendereya and Lookin at Lucky... then everyone else. · 2401 days ago
Unfortunately, his resourcefullness will not be enough to win the Tampa Bay Derby. I must agree, however, I too look forward to watching his odysee towards the first Saturday in May.
This is THE horse I'm most interested in watching in today's preps. Could he be this year's Big Brown or Curlin that explodes on the Derby scene late? I'm very interested to see him in the Tampa Bay Derby and see if he's the real deal.
