  • ILuvTurfRacing · In the past 4 seasons that makes Conduit, Workforce, I'll Have Another, and now Novellist that have been sent off to stand at stud in Japan from Europe & America, and that's just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Conduit was retired at the same time as Sea The Stars & Mastercraftsman, and we've seen several of their 2yo offspring on racetracks in the UK and Ireland this season, so I'm thinking some of Conduit's offspring should be popping up racetracks in Japan or elsewhere about any time now. · 428 days ago

Novellist won't start in Paris. He got a fever today.

  • Euro Trash · You would think that Novellist and the BC Turf would be a good fit, unless they feel he would have trouble with the tighter turns · 440 days ago
  • Floridaf · I would love to see Novellist over here to take on The Fugue in the Turf. Would be a very good race. · 440 days ago
Novellist remains unbeaten in 2013 with a win in the G1 Grosser Preis Von Baden in Germany today. There were 3 "win and your in" challenge races for the Breeders Cup Turf ran in Europe this year and Novellist won all 3 of them, G1 Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud, G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, & G1 Grosser Preis Von Baden.

  • jonquil · b/c I'd checked to see if there was anything for him and so I entered the results, but now there are two identical race results showing and I dunno if it was just something to do with my connection acting up when I hit save or me adding it at the same time someone else was. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do this. :( · 474 days ago
  • ILuvTurfRacing · This horse is on one hell of a roll. Novellist hasn't lost a race since he finished 4th behind Danedream in last year's Preis Von Baden a year ago. Since that time he's won 4 G1's and 1-G2 in Germany, Italy, France, & Great Britain. He may prove to be a very tough horse to beat in this year's Arc De Triomphe if he continues to run at this level, IMO. · 474 days ago
On September1st Novellist will look to emulate Danedream's victory in the Longines Grosser Preis von Baden in Germany before moving on to his goal of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He'll be running against his stablemate Seismos, Meandre, Empoli, and Quinzieme Monarque.
I haven't heard if they have any G1 targets in mind for Novellist in August yet? But I'd say you can just about bet the farm he'll return home to Germany to run in the G1 Preis Von Baden which runs on either September 1st or 7th. If he runs well in Germany then I think that will be his final race before the Arc a month later, though they would have the option of running him in something like the G2 Prix Foy in mid-September as a stay sharp for the Arc prep. After the Arc I truly hope they consider compaigning Novellist internationally. He's already won 2 of the "win and your in" challenge races for the BC Turf, so I hope the BC committee members really start courting his connections heavy to get Novellist to Santa Anita. With the loss of St Nicholas Abbey to the race this year it would be great to know that a horse of Novellist ability would be heading to the BC Turf from Europe. I'm hoping his 2 BC challenge wins and not having any supplemental fees will be enough to persuade them, but the BC Turf always has to compete with the Japan Cup in November for a lot of the top European horses.
A whole lot of options are available to Novellist now. At the top of the list I'm quite certain will be the Arc De Triomphe. The King George is one of the "win and your in" races for the Breeders Cup Turf, so his connections have that option available to them now too if they chose to use it. I also wouldn't rule out seeing this horse in something like the G1 Japan Cup in November or the G1 Hong Kong Vase in December. Who knows, we might even see him in the G1 Sheema Classic next March in Dubai?

  • jonquil · I figured chances were good for this guy, but his form has really come on. Very funny how at the end he seemed all up for a second go around! That's a very good sign and I hope Murtaugh will be allowed to be his jockey in the Arc, too. The Arc will have a much tougher field so it'll certainly be interesting! · 509 days ago
  • ILuvTurfRacing · Actually, Novellist has won 2 of the "win of your in" challenge races for the Breeders Cup Turf, the G1 Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud and the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Surely with no supplemental fees his connections would be responsible for to bring him to Santa Anita you'd think the BC Turf might look a very attractive proposition for Novellist come November. I sure hope he comes stateside for the BC Turf. · 509 days ago
Murtaugh was right, Novellist has a huge engine. He has a high cruising speed and he can keep going.
Novellist not only wins the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, he was "MUCH" the best. A long way clear of the Irish Derby winner Trading Leather in 2nd and the King Edward VII Stakes winner Hillstar in 3rd. This horse is on a real roll of G1 wins. It would be awesome to see him at Santa Anita for the Breeders Cup Turf in November since this was a " win and your in" race for the Breeders Cup Turf.

  • ILuvTurfRacing · Novellist drew away from Trading Leather by 5 lengths easily. A further 3/4 lengths back to Hillstar in 3rd with another 3 lengths to Cirrus Des Aigles in 4th. Very impressive winner of the King George. · 510 days ago
  • On The Gallop's · This horse will be ARC bound. His form is tremendous. What would be the odds of Two German horses in 3 years to win the KG/Arc double.' · 510 days ago
