What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Nonios...

Sad to hear he is injured. Is he coming back, eventually???? Sadly, I don't think he will.

DRF is reporting that Nonios is injured and will likely be out for several months. Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer did not disclose details of the injury but said it was not a fracture or bowed tendon. Best wishes to his horse for a quick recovery.

I have a feeling he's really going to blossom next year. If my predictions are correct he'll be outstanding. I really like this horse. He seems to excel at distances of 9 or 10 furlongs. Classic next year maybe?
  • annmatt · Pleasantly Perfect, Nonios' daddy, didn't start making much noise until as a 5 and 6 yr old. Nonios at 3 appears to be running a year or two ahead of his daddy, with some very respectable placings in graded stakes including seconds in a couple of G1s. It will be fun to watch how Nonios matures at 4. I look for him to break out with some big wins in 2013! · 153 days ago ·

  • travel_vic · Like I explained before, when reviewing a race, I look at peformances and never look at a horse's name, the rider or the trainer. so I just bet the competitive performance and do not give a hoot which horse has that or not. · 170 days ago ·

  • goblin · buds, Your above statement said that "the Dude prefers synthetic dirt." So, three of us responded to that assertion. I would like to see him run against other older males outside the state of California as well. Mary Z.'s idea of the Foster was a viable option--he did not do badly at Churchill in the BCC 2011. The Oaklawn Handicap will be coming up in the spring--a couple of us mentioned that race on a different thread. I prayed to the lord he will be back next year, stronger than ever. Anyone knows if he will be running next year or not?
This boy helped me cash today! Solidly improving STILL! He could be a very could handcap horse next year.

  • rafirox · Ran his heart out today, very proud of the way he fought. On the far turn, he fell back two lengths, then came up again, the fell again. Ran his heart out. I was so impressed with how badly he wanted it, when he got whipped, he responded, and he did whatever Martin told him to. I loved it. · 174 days ago ·

  • cleclair1994 · I started following this horse when he scratched out of the derby trial earlier this year, and then I bet him when he came back in the affirmed, and been a huge fan ever since. I went to see him at the travers and this horse is impressive even though he didn't run the greats and IMO got a bad ride from jonny v. This horse is going to be really good. · 174 days ago ·

I have my doubts about his ability to get 10 furlongs, but headed into the 2013 season, I'd take Nonios in a heartbeat over Game On Dude. GoD beat him fair and square today, regardless of the bump going into the clubhouse turn. That said, Nonios has done a ton in a short amount of time. Freshen him up, give him some time to finish off his development, and we could have a very serious racehorse on our hands. I trust Hollendorfer knows what's best for the boy. Give him a breather, then get a prep in him and point toward the Big Cap.
He ran a very good second, almost too good to lose!
