Unless Prince Khalid Abdullah decides to supplement last minute, I have to say I'm a little surprised that Noble Mission isn't among the entries for the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes or the G2 Hardwicke Stakes for the rapidly approaching royal meeting at Ascot. Not that he has problem staying 12f or wouldn't run well in the Hardwicke, but he's arguably in the best form of his career at present and the best of his form this season has came at 10f. Lest we forget, Al Kazeem completed the Tattersalls Gold Cup/Prince of Wales's Stakes G1 double last season by way of a win in the G3 Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown, which is a race Noble Mission has also won this season. Plus, he went to Chester and won the G3 Huxley Stakes beating Telescope by 2-1/4 lengths before winning the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup. If they're skipping Ascot entirely with Noble Mission, one can only assume it will be because they want him fresh for a shot at the G1 Coral-Eclipse at Sandown in early July, IMO.

  • jonquil · What? @ILuvTurf They said that although he originally had an entry in the Hardwicke, it's unlikely he'll run there as they're charting another course for him based on his last win. He still is entered in the Coral Eclipse, however, so unless they take him out of that it looks like he may be going there instead. · 1029 days ago

Frankel's little brother is on a roll this season. Noble Mission beats Magician to win the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh in Ireland. This made the 3rd straight win for Noble Mission this season, having previously won the G3 Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown and G3 Huxley Stakes at Chester. His only loss this season to date remains his narrowly beaten 2nd behind Cubanita in the G3 John Porter Stakes at Newbury back in April on his 2014 seasonal debut.

  • Northport · Quite fitting that she win her first G1 with a full brother to the greatest horse her late husband trained - outstanding! · 1038 days ago
Noble Mission makes it 2 straight wins over Telescope, winning the G3 Huxley Stakes at Chester after easily defeating Telescope last month at Sandown in the G3 Gordon Richards Stakes. 3 really solid runs already this season from Noble Mission that have produced 2 wins at 10f and a 2nd narrowly beaten in the G3 John Porter Stakes at Newbury at 12f on his seasonal debut in April.

I have a question. I'm assuming everyone knows of this talented full brother to Frankel. I find it interesting the Sir Henry Cecil (has anyone read his book? It's great) didn't even hesitate to give Noble Mission 12f, but always hesitated to give Frankel 10f let alone 12f. I think it really goes to show how well Cecil knows his horses. I do realize, Noble Mission ran 12f without trouble and has two wins going the distance. I must wonder, given they have identical pedigrees, what particulary made Cecil know that Frankel wouldn't have liked 12f? I think it was because Frankel lacked mental maturity and was a headstrong runner at a young age and often tugged and pulled a TQ. Noble Mission never did that as far as I'm concerned after reviewing his races.. Just an observation.

I've been looking back at the replays of some of his races from 2012 and I still can't help but wonder why Sir Henry Cecil didn't hesitate even one second in stepping Noble Mission up to 12f but never really even considered doing it with Frankel? Noble Mission ran 4 times at 12f in 2012. He won the G3 Gordon Stakes, 2nd in the G2 King Edward VII & G3 St Simon Stakes against older horses, and he was 4th in the G2 Great Voltigeur Stakes. My point being, Noble Mission handled the 12f trip without any issues at all. What led Sir Henry Cecil to believe his much more talented older brother with the exact same, identical pedigree wouldn't have handled 12f, too? JMO.
  • northport · I wondered this too, perhaps because Frankel was a bit of a headstrong runner in his earlier races, and needed more work as he could burn himself out early at longer distances? Just a guess · 1492 days ago

Frankel's little brother, Noble Mission, will face a stern test tomorrow in the (G2) Great Voltigeur Stakes, one race before the big show.
Noble Mission, full brother to Frankel, just won the G3 Gordon Stakes over 12f at Goodwood. He finished 2nd in the G2 King Edward VII Stakes at Ascot during the royal meeting in June, and he won the listed Newmarket Stakes over 10f back in May. Frankel's little brother is staying 12f in either 1st or 2nd place every time out these days. That should more than reassure Sir Henry Cecil that 10f should likely be a duck walk for Frankel since their pedigree is identical. My fervent hope is that Frankel is so impressive in the G1 Juddmonte International at 10f in August that Prince Khalid Abdullah will actually consider trying him at 12f in the Arc in October? Probably won't happen? But one can dream!!
After breaking his maiden going a mile in his 2nd career start at Newbury 2 weeks ago, Noble Mission won the listed Newmarket Stakes going 10f at Newmarket on Saturday on the English 2000 Guineas card. The importance of Noble Mission winning the Newmarket Stakes being that he's a full brother to Frankel, and won the Newmarket Stakes going 10f. Since Sir Henry Cecil has been saying since the end of the 2011 season that he wants to stretch Frankel out to at least 10f in 2012, this would certainly give one hope that Frankel shouldn't have any problems getting 10f either? Since his much less experienced little brother stayed the trip out with relative ease.
A full brother to Frankel. Broke his maiden on Saturday in his 2nd career start in a maiden stakes at Newbury on the G3 Greenham Stakes card. Noble Mission was 2nd in a maiden stakes at Yarmouth racecourse in the UK in his only other prior start back in October, 2011. Little brother certainly has some very big shoes to fill to try and live up to the reputation that Frankel has built for himself. But he's certainly off to a very good start!! Juddmonte may have another star on the rise in Noble Mission?
