  • LongLiveBigRed · Nice job, Chris. I like LaBailladora in the Matron. I'm up in the air about the classic. For one thing it's raining outside as I type this (I'm in the northern Chicago suburbs); will they move off the turf? · 693 days ago ·
  • cpsoren121 · It turned out to be a great day actually, turf was 'good' for a while but then was upgraded to 'firm' · 692 days ago ·

Though Bob Baffert might feel like the Sunland Derby is a bit like an island he can't conquer. He's been well-beaten his last two trips to Sunland for the track's richest race. He tries again with a horse who may well be one of his top contenders for the May 5 Kentucky Derby. Read More

  • AmbitiousD · I agree that Isn't He Clever has a good chance. I don't see a lot of pace up front, which could also play well for Daddy Nose Best. This could be a great race · 757 days ago ·

Monday’s Grade 3 Southwest Stakes (division 1) has drawn a field of eleven and morning line favorite Longview Drive invades from Southern California for Jerry Hollendorfer. #5 Longview Drive (5-2) finished 3rd in the low rated G3 Delta Jackpot to end his juvenile campaign and occupied that same spot...Read More

  • travel_vic · From an ESPN article: "At Oaklawn Park, there will never be a Cougar Day, a Mike vs. Chantal match race, or an advertising campaign featuring exotic dancers; there will never be night racing, or camel racing or ostrich racing. At Oaklawn Park, horses and racing matter. " · 823 days ago ·
  • 12thCrown · Not sure how many of you frequent Oaklawn, so while there won't be a "Cougar Day" per se, there are plenty of eligible ladies and dudes hanging around the second level sports bar. Seriously though, it's an extremely social place where people do care about the horses. · 819 days ago ·

IN THE LATE 1980s and early 1990s, Remington Park's signature race was the Remington Park Derby. It is now the Oklahoma Derby that is run every fall. Back then it was run in the spring and management of the Oklahoma City racetrack did its best to attract any horses that had a chance of winding up in ...Read More

Caught behind horses with less than 300 yards to go, favored Union Rags abruptly changed course in mid-stretch and went on to an imposing 5 ¼-length victory in Saturday afternoon’s 140th running of the Grade 1, $300,000 Champagne at Belmont Park.   The Champagne victory, Union Rags’ third in as...Read More

  • brooklyn.steve · Speightscity gets my vote. I think that win was legit, and I think this race sets up nicely for him. As you pointed out, the cut back will only help. Nice breakdown of the race. · 925 days ago ·
  • DeadHeat · Speight IMO is the horse for Union to watch, not alpha. He ran very big over a very tring and very slow track. For a two year old to run in a race 9f that early is different and good. Could the competition have been weak? Yes, it is a strong possibility. However, if the colt is good enough the 9f foundation he has will give him a big edge over those, like Union Rags who are stretching out. · 924 days ago ·
One year ago, maiden winner Uncle Mo notched his first stakes victory in Belmont Park’s Grade 1 Champagne en route to his triumph in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and eventual Champion 2-Year-Old Male honors.   Saturday, a solid group of similarly minded juveniles will line up for the 141st runnin...Read More
