Such a shame. She certainly had much promise.
Ante post favourite for the 2013 1000 guineas, newfangled, was put down friday night after sustaining a pelvic injury and being pulled up in the lowther stakes on thursday. According to trainer john gosden, she was the fastest two year old he ever trained. Rip
The most bitterly disappointing news of the day to report: The Racing Post web-site has just posted that John Gosden's star filly Newfangled, has been taken for a scan for what is suspected to be a fractured pelvis after William Buick pulled her up right after the gates opened in today's G2 Lowther Stakes at York. That's such disheartening news, because in my mind, Newfangled was the most talented juvenile filly I'd seen so far this season anywhere in Europe, and I actually had her listed along with Reckless Abandon and Dawn Approach as being one of three best juveniles outright I've seen in Europe this season. Here's hoping this talented filly eventually makes a speedy and full recovery!!
