PHOLA (Johannesburg) easily recorded her first stakes victory in Saturday's $150,00 Hillsborough S. Six of the 12 entrants, including Mushka (Empire Maker) and Tottie (GB) (Fantastic Ligh...Read More
If you can't get excited about racing this weekend, I don't know what to tell ya. Saturday is action-packed from coast to coast and I know I'll be glued to my computer with racing form in hand all all afternoon. Let's take a trip around the US and A, in the Space Shuttle to see what's in store....Read More

St Trinians recorded her fourth victory in succession since arriving in the United States and soundly defeated Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic (gr. I) winner Life Is Sweet in the $250,000 Santa Maria Handicap Feb. 13.Read More

BC Ladies’ Classic winner Life Is Sweet returns in the Santa Maria. Partly cloudy skies are expected w...Read More
Marty and Pam Wygod’s Life Is Sweet, winner of the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1), is scheduled to return to action in the $250,000 Santa Maria Handicap (G2) at Santa Anita Park on Saturday. The 1 1/16-mile race on the synthetic Pro-Ride surface drew a field of nine older fillies and mares....Read More
It was another brutal Breeders' Cup for New York-based horses. One year after winning just 1 of 14 Breeders' Cup races - Maram in the Juvenile Fillies Turf - the New York-based contingent drew a blank in last week's Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita. Tapitsfly, this year's Juvenile Fillies Turf winner, d...Read More
Careless Jewel went super fast early in the Ladies' Classic and it set the stage for Life Is Sweet who moved outside into the stretch and ran down the pacemakers en route to a sharp win. Mushka ran second while Music Note came on for third.Read More
Careless Jewel is the definition of lone speed for the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic, the headline event on day one of the two-day 2009 Breeders' Cup from Santa Anita. Primary rivals include Music Note, Life Is Sweet and Cocoa Beach.Read More
There’s on old adage that says the more things change, the more they stay same. Keep that in mind when you handicap the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1). The dynamic three-year-old filly whose name is on the tip of everyone’s tongue may be skipping this weekend’s Breeders’ Cup. Yet in the year’s r...Read More
With most of the major training over for the Nov. 6-7 Breeders' Cup World Championships completed, the work tab at Santa Anita Nov. 3 was pretty light.Read More
Rachel Alexandra isn't coming and Zenyatta is leaning to the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I). However, anyone who believes that doesn't leave much for the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic (gr. I) needs to think again.Read More
  • Rossington · Unless she just totally collapses, with Zenyatta likely out of the Ladies Classic, Careless Jewel should, if she runs to form, win the Ladies Classic. Most expect Music Note to run well, but Cocoa Beach, Lethal Heat or Rainbow View seem to be the talk of who's likely to complete the tri-fecta. I think Life is Sweet hit's the board in this race. Managing to finish 3rd to the boys in the Hollywood Gold Cup, she can certainly get up to place or show in the Ladies Classic imo. · 135 days ago
Undefeated mare Zenyatta, the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic winner, worked six furlongs in company at Hollywood Park on Oct 23rd.Read More
This year's Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic (G1) is shaping up to be a repeat of 2008, with most of the same cast and crew re-opposing reigning champion ZENYATTA (Street Cry [Ire]). One really interesting contender has been retired, and another major player is now only 50-50 for the 1 1/8-mile event.Read More
Brushwood Stable’s Mushka, who was named the winner of Sunday’s Juddmonte Spinster (G1) upon the disqualification of Proviso (GB), and Circle E Racing’s Mr. Sidney, who was third in Saturday’s Shadwell Turf Mile (G1), will remain at Keeneland until about a week before the Breeders’ Cup World Champio...Read More
There is so much to discuss after the weekend's stakes extravaganza, but one race that likely had the most profound effect on the Breeders' Cup was the Goodwood Stakes (gr. I).Read More
  • Rossington · I say now or never for Zenyatta. If she had been entered in the Goodwood Stakes, Gitano Hernando or not, she could have won that race. There really wasn't much there to beat, imo. MTB who hasn't won a race since the Ky. Derby, Colonel John who runs well on the surface but is a bit overmatched in the Classic, Informed and Parading, whom neither have ran to par for some time now. So with Sea the Stars now retired, I say let Zenyatta run against the boys. Quality Road or Summer Bird are neither proven on the surface. Of the American entries, only Einstein may give her trouble. So let her run, so what if she finished 3rd to Rip Van Winkle and Midshipman. No shame in that. · 154 days ago
Brushwood Stable's MUSHKA (Empire Maker) crossed under the line 1 1/4 lengths adrift of Proviso (GB) (Dansili [GB]) in Sunday's $500,000 Spinster S. (G1) at Keeneland, but was promoted to first when that one was disqualified and placed second. Sent off the 5-1 fourth pick, the Bill Mott trainee paid...Read More
