What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Munnings...

Munnings' first reported foal is a colt out of Heaven's Grace according to The Bloodhorse.
Multiple Grade 2 winner Munnings has been retired and will stand the 2011 season at Ashford Stud in Versailles, Kentucky. A stud fee will be announced at a later date. A $1.7-million purchase at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Calder sale of selected two-year-olds in training, Munnings captured the 2009 Woody...Read More
In the Salvator Mile, Gone Astray earned a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile with his dramatic victory. The 4-year-old colt by Dixie Union, trained by Shug McGaughey and ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, raced the one-mile over a fast track in 1:38 and paid $16.20, $6 and $3.80 across the board as th...Read More
Saturday’s $250,000 Salvator Mile is a Grade 3 event with a top-caliber field, as every one of the five horses entered can boast major stakes victories. The one-mile Salvator is a “win-and-you’re-in” Breeders’ Cup event, pointing horses towards the big event on Nov. 6 at Churchill Downs. The field ...Read More
Devil May Care had a good morning following her victory in Saturday’s Grade 1 Mother Goose, trainer Todd Pletcher reported.   “She came out of the race in excellent shape,” said Pletcher, who has the Grade 1 Betfair TVG Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday, July 24, ...Read More
It was a busy Father’s Day morning for trainer Todd Pletcher at Belmont Park, highlighted by half-mile breezes from stable stars Quality Road and Super Saver.   In his first move since stretching his 2010 record to a perfect 3-for-3 in Memorial Day’s Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap, Quality Road...Read More
Among the Pletcher-trained horses who breezed Sunday were Aikenite, who went four furlongs in 48.07 over the training track; Munnings, who went a half-mile in 49.63 on the main track, and the Mother Goose-bound Devil May Care, who covered five furlongs in 1:01.05.  Kentucky Derby winner Super S...Read More
Quality Road will have his final tune-up on Tuesday for Memorial Day’s Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap, and trainer Todd Pletcher could not be happier with the way the 4-year-old Elusive Quality colt is coming into the race.   “He’s doing great,” said Pletcher of Edward P. Evans’ homebred, who in...Read More
Champion Informed Decision and multiple Grade 1 winner Court Vision are two of many stars among the entrants for five graded stakes on the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) undercard on Saturday at Churchill Downs.Read More
  • medlocke · Informed Decision looked to me like a mare that had a little bit of lay-off rust in losing her first start of 2010 at Keenland in the Vinery Madison Stakes. Informed Decision had been undefeated over synthetic surfaces until her recent 3rd place finish. But she's one of those rare one's that can perform equally well over a conventional dirt surface as well. She won the 09' Human Distaff in the slop at Churchill Downs, if you'll remember. A lot of horses are slow starters after a lay-off. Gio Ponti springs to mind, losing his first start of 2010 at Tampa Bay Downs to Karelian. But came back in his second start to run an amazing Dubai World Cup, finishing 4th, but having to go extremely wide to get that. So it was a very quality run for him. I expect Informed Decision to bounce back with a win on Derby day. IMO. · 645 days ago ·

CARTER QUOTES   Ian Wilkes, winning trainer of Warrior’s Reward (No. 2): “After he couldn’t get the distance in the Travers, we decided, let’s make him a one-turn horse, seven-eighths or a mile.  Let’s make him a really good horse.  He wants to be a good horse. When Julien pulled him ...Read More
  • rossington · I'm just really glad to see a deserving colt like Musket Man back racing and competing successfully again. He was one of my favorites in 2009 during the run up to the 09 Kentucky Derby, because I felt he had a lot of talent, and was being looked over in favor of some of the other, more "marque" named colt's at the time, like Friesan Fire, Pioneer of the Nile, Dunkirk, and others. I think because he took the Tampa Bay Derby and Illinois Derby route coming into Churchill was why many overlooked him. But to see him come back in February after such a long lay-off to win the Super Stakes, and then run a superb place effort to Warrior's Reward, just missing by a whisker today, gives me a whole lot of hope for Musket Man's future during his 4yr.old campaign. I can't wait to see how he'll fair against Quality Road in the Met Mile, seeing how the two never got a chance to meet during the 09 Kentucky Derby or Preakness. · 671 days ago ·

NYRA is guaranteeing the Wood Memorial pick 4 pool this year to be $500K; NYRA does this to let the players know that they expect $500K in the pick 4 pool.
