  • MarcelloMarocco · I think Spring Venture who won the GR TWO Natalma is the biggest threat in this BC race. She win easily, and the Natalma is a huge prep for the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf. I will wait to see who the winner of the Prix Marc Broussac and then pick between those two. · 274 days ago ·

Together (IRE) swept past Marketing Mix to win the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1) at Keeneland on Saturday.Read More
  • medlocke · Much better ride by Colm O'Donoghue on Together in the Q.E.II Challenge Cup than was the case in the First Lady Stakes. He seemed to have a lot of filly still left through the stretch run of this race, IMO. It's not that much of a surprise to me that Together won this race. This is a filly that was beaten by a neck by the still unbeaten White Moonstone in the G1 Fillies Mile at Ascot in 2010. She was beaten 3/4 of a length by Blue Bunting in this year's G1 English 1000 Guineas. Blue Bunting came out of that race to go on and win both the G1 Irish and G1 Yorkshire Oaks. She was beaten 3/4 of a length by stablemate Misty For Me in the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas. Misty For Me came out of that race to go on and defeat Midday in the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes in Ireland. Together also has 2nd place finishes to the Juddmonte filly, Emulous, in the G1 Matron Stakes in Ireland, and a 2nd place finish to Never Retreat in last week's G1 First Lady Stakes at Keenland. This is clearly a filly with some real talent to be running that well at G1 level. It was only a matter of time before Together finally got her nose across the wire first in a G1 stakes race, and yesterday just happened to be that race. · 612 days ago ·

  • rorschach1992 · Not many G1 races available for 3yo fillies on turf, at least in NY, which is where she races, which is why only the one G1 win. Disappointed at her race today, she just didn't have it, Together was very impressive though. Two G1s in a week, one win and a second, very good! · 613 days ago ·

  • BrianAppleton · @medlocke - I think Theysken's Theory has a good chance to hit the board, but I wasn't able to see replays of her races in Europe so I can't say too much about her chances back here. I don't like that she hasn't had a race in the US to "warm up" and is jumping straight into a Grade 1. I'd be surprised to see her win but I do on the other hand agree completely on her breeding...excellent pedigree! · 642 days ago ·

  • medlocke · To my mind, Winter Memories is the class of the American turf fillies. More Than Real ran over her head in last year's BC Juvenile Fillies Turf, and hasn't reproduced anything close to that as a 3yr.old. I believe the Garden City Stakes will come down to a 2-horse affair between Winter Memories and the Brian Meehan trained, Theysken's Theory, who's coming over from the UK for the Garden City. Theysken's Theory tried conventional dirt in last year's BC Juvenile Fillies. But has proven to be far more effective on turf in the UK. She's won 2 of 3 starts so far in 2011. Including the Atalanta Stakes at Newbury last time out. · 642 days ago ·

  • annmatt · Would love to have more coverage of international stars, like Frankel and Black Caviar! A regular weekly report on these and others would be very welcome. Love the Irish hurdlers (the retired Istabraq made these races famous), love the Australian stayers (Makybe Diva, et al come to mind). These are also countries in which there are no raceday drugs, so it would be informative for those of us on this side of the pond to track how well horses do under the Euro style conditioning program so they don't have to use the drugs. Just suggesting an expansion of your coverage and elevate it to the status of the headliner races here! Thanks! · 764 days ago ·
