Older Comments about More Joyous...

More Joyous (NZ) by More Than Ready, has indeed been retired and will go to England for a date with Frankel. Travel may hinge on getting vaccination shots for equine influenza. From 29 starts, 20 of 21 wins came at stakes-level, 8 of those at Grade 1 level. It is a shame that in her final start in the All Aged Stakes, where she finished second last, ended in controversy, with owner John Singleton firing trainer Gai Waterhouse claiming she knew of problems with More Joyous' fitness but ran her anyway. Gai Waterhouse was fined $5500 for "failing to keep proper records and reporting a condition to stewards that could affect performance before last month's All Aged Stakes." Happy retirement and second career as a stay at home mom for this brilliant mare.
After a disappointing 7th place in the All Aged Stakes today, More Joyous and all other John Singleton horses have been pulled form the barn of Gai Waterhouse in quite dramatic fashion - http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-04-27/all-aged-stakes/4654466
Andrew Bensley ‏@AndrewBensley - John Singleton told me if More Joyous fails in All Aged she could be retired straight away. Whenever they retire, 1st mating is Frankel.
This race should be interesting today more joyous vs pierro vs moment of change
Interesting that the owner of More Joyous is calling out the black caviar connections for a race in the all aged stakes at randwick over 7f.

  • paul.nathan.946 · Would be one hell of a race as i think black cav is more than vulnerable over 7f. The race fits in perfectly for both the horses as they both run mid to late march leaving a nice month gap for the race. Hay list is also a previous winner of this race so there is a big chance you could see more joyous-black caviar-hay list-pierro line up in the all aged · 940 days ago
  • Sully · Looks to me like the owner's just trying to get a weight break instead of giving up so much weight in the Doncaster · 940 days ago
20 wins from 27 starts with 8 G1s this mare is one of the best around at the moment, she won her first start of the spring on Saturday , turf fans keep your eye on her this spring

  • switch360 · Just keeps winning this mare, thats 20 stakes wins now and 21 from 27, We are spoilt in Australia at the moment with More Joyous,Black Caviar and Atlantic Jewell, all active mares · 1096 days ago
  • yukichan · Gai Waterhouse, who is just a remarkable trainer, has five talented horses still left declared. In addition to her superstar mare More Joyous, she has Pierro, Proisir, Glencadam Gold and Irish import Julienas. My Kiwi boy, It's A Dundeel, has an honest shot to be among the top three finishers. · 1095 days ago
I know most of theattention deservedly went to Black Caviar last night, but this mare is a monster, too as she nailed yet another G1 yesterday. looked like she was about to be swamped as she turned for home on the lead and then she just EXPLODED,
Curious about this horse, need more information.
