  • LAZMANNICK · And the list of great horses racing in the UK goes on and on. The race was barely over and the first thing out of the color commentator’s mouth was “And Camelot remains beaten. Maybe we are about to see the greatest horse we’ve seen in well over forty years.” Wow. Frankel. Your fame is fleeting. Move over there’s a new greatest ever horse in town. · 353 days ago ·

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @BrianZipse, Much agreed. Provided 14f doesn't prove a bridge too far for Camelot, which I seriously doubt being the son of Montjeu, he's clearly head and shoulders above any of the rest of the middle distance 3yr.old's I've seen in Europe this season. Assuming he does go on to the G1 English St. Leger in September, and comes out of that race healthy, he could be a tough row to hoe for the older horses in the Arc this year with the weight for age break he'd get for being a 3yr.old. I just can't imagine Coolmore not sending Camelot to Longchamp in October to run in the Arc De Triomphe? He'd likely stand a better chance of winning the Arc for Ballydoyle than their older horses would, i.e, St Nicholas Abbey, So You Think, etc.., IMO. · 353 days ago ·

What is Camelot? Webster defines it as a time, place, or atmosphere of idyllic happiness. Nice. The horse isn’t bad either… When Camelot exploded home from his competition in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy last fall at Doncaster, the highly touted juvenile colt was immediately made a strong winter b...Read More

  • Mike in SB · The Triple Crown is not a big deal in England, I doubt that Camelot even runs in the St. Leger. This is the problem with having the English Triple Crown races spaced so far apart, by the time the St Legar comes around the 3 year olds are racing against older horses in the big European races. · 378 days ago ·

  • ILuvTurfRacing · Really a terrible, tragic loss for Coolmore, as well as the rest of the thoroughbred racing world!! Montjeu was right at the top of the list among the great active sires. He was one the horses that completed what I call the "big 3" , being Montjeu, High Chaparral, and the mighty Galileo that were doing an incredible job of carrying on that incredible Sadler's Wells bloodline. Probably the most influential bloodline in breeding from the aspect of turf racing. · 446 days ago ·

He's turning out to be the hottest sire for the past month or so!! First Sarah Lynx, then Miss Keller, and now Camelot!! Gotta love those Montjeu babies!!
An already excellent year just got a whole lot better for the 15-year-old stallion Montjeu. The Coolmore stud had a great career on the racetrack with 11 wins in only 16 starts. The European champion won such big races as the 1999 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Irish Derby, Prix du Jockey Club as well a...Read More

Sure, stallions go through good years and bad years with crops of foals, but particularly in terms of producing outstanding turf routers, Sadler’s Wells certainly earned his retirement in 2008, leaving his sons such as Galileo, Montjeu and the red-hot High Chaparral to admirably continue to pump out...Read More
