  • matthewmartini · I'm remember thinking before the race that only two horses had won the Preakness since 1960 from the #1 post. If one is superstitious (and I'm not), one could think that Orb would be in trouble. Despite the post, I felt that if Rosario could get him outside by the second turn that he was going to win. He didn't, he looked bothered on the inside, and tired on top of it. Even if he had been able to get on the outside, I still think that he would not have run down Oxbow. The pace was too slow and Orb's big run in the Derby led to a bounce. And the post didn't help. Itsmylucky day ran better than I had anticipated. · 14 hours ago ·

Other than secretariat which modern day racer do you think has had the most positive effect in horse racing for the mass media? (As in drawing people into the sport) I know IHA had started to gather a large following from those that were not as familiar with the sport - but most were let down by his scratch in the Belmont (I know it was unavoidable, but I know people who lost interest after that point)

  • travel_vic · Postional analysis would have stated that Giacomo was LATE and it was well known the the 3rd place colt, Afleet Alex was much later, Fusaichi, Charismatic, Funny CIde, War Emblem, Super Saver, Smarty Jones, Monarchos all had the SAME average prep % medians and some of the ridiculous LATE ones like Pyro, Sweetnorthernsaint, were too too late as were those too early like Bellamy Road, Lion Heart and Hard Spun...To late and too early for the WIN, now Barbaro was all over the map and the Brown frankencolt was high at 67.8 -to 68.9, but just barely · 28 days ago ·
