What the Nation is saying about May Day Rose...

We have yet to get through this weekend, and I am already looking ahead to the next weekend. I absolutely cannot help it! The Sunshine Millions series is shaping up to be a good one this year, and I am crushed that I probably will not be able to get down to Florida to watch the action first-hand. Si...Read More

  • mdracing69 · I have seen this happen multiple times and if you are watching the odds board it is a great opportunity to make some decent money betting to show. There are some players out there that like to make big show wagers (bridge jumpers) on heavy favorites. · 836 days ago ·
  • travel_vic · Dr. Ziembia was the first to exploit the inefficient markets under the win pool. These are much more common at the standardbreds however · 835 days ago ·
I also made this comment on the page about Turbulent Descent in the Lebrea. (Too bad I can't comment anymore) I put May Day Rose in my virtual stable after she had a nice workout for a half a mile, and breezed home in the LeBrea. Look for her possibly to wake up in a grade 2 around 7 furlongs. My quote: "May Day Rose had a workout 5 days ago, and looks dangerous. The one month layoff from her last race to her first workout on Dec. 5th makes me wonder if her legs are a little tender after battling for a mile on on Nov. 5th. Is Baffert pointing to a grade 2 instead?" Heres the link to the article I can't comment on: http://www.horseracingnation.com/news/Turbulent_Descent_looks_for_Redemtion_in_La_Brea_123 Good luck trying to bring that article to the homepage.

Multiple graded stakes winner May Day Rose put in a nice work for trainer Bob Baffert this morning at Santa Anita in preparation for the $300,000 La Brea Stakes on Dec. 31. With Martin Garcia up, May Day Rose went six furlongs in 1:11.4 – the fastest of eight works…Read More
Irrefutable, who closed well at 6-1 to finish second behind victorious Amazombie in Saturday’s Grade I Ancient Title Stakes at six furlongs, beating 2-5 favorite The Factor in the process, might have earned himself a spot in the Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs on Nov. 5, Bob Baffert said Sunday mor...Read More

SASSY IMAGE (Broken Vow), like numerous professional sports teams, is a world-beater at home but highly vulnerable when she hits the road. However, a road win Saturday in the $350,000 Princess Rooney H. (G1) at Calder would greatly enhance her prospects for an Eclipse Award as champion female sprint...Read More

  • Thoroughbred44 · Only time will tell if she can come back to her 2010 form. Hopefully she can, I'm a fan, she's a great filly, too bad she had to miss a lot of basically her biggest season. · 1046 days ago ·
  • KyOaksRunner · I hope she comes back and is able to run at the same level she left at, that would be very special. Hopefully she'll be able to put together a strong season in the last half of the year (and maybe next year as well). · 1043 days ago ·
Thanks to a disqualification, Ultra Blend ran her win streak to three and became a graded stakes winner in the $150,000 Milady Handicap Saturday at Hollywood Park.   St Trinians, the even money favorite crossed the wire first by 1 ¼ lengths in the Grade II, but was placed fourth after stewards...Read More

Just two weeks and four short days remain until the running of the 137th Kentucky Oaks on Friday May 6th at Churchill Downs. The Santa Anita Oaks (gr.1) was not just another 3-year-old filly race this year; it will go down as one of the best performances of the season. Turbulent Descent sat the right tactical trip under David Flores and turned the tables on Zazu in Saturday's Santa Anita Oaks (G1). Zazu and Turbulent Descent, the top two finishers in the Las Virgenes (G1), meet three rivals in Saturday's Santa Anita Oaks (G1). • medlocke · The Santa Anita Oaks should be another great race between these two classy fillies. It will be the fourth time they've faced each other in their short careers. Looking at the three previous races between Turbulent Decent and Zazu, It appears to me that Turbulent Decent has the edge on the synthetic surface. Having beaten Zazu in the Moccasin Stakes and the Hollywood Starlet Stakes. Both times on the all-weather at Hollywood Park. But it looked as if Zazu may have the quicker turn of foot on conventional dirt between the two. When she reversed form on Turbulent Decent and beat her at Santa Anita in the Las Virgenes Stakes. Turbulent Decent ran very well in that race on the dirt also. But I'd have to give an ever so slight edge in the Santa Oaks to Zazu with the race being back on the dirt again at Santa Anita. Aided by a fast pace, Zazu rallied to win Saturday's Grade 1 Las Virgenes at Santa Anita Park, beating heavy favorite Turbulent Descent in the process. Zazu, trained by John Sadler for Ann and Jerry Moss, paid $10 as the second betting choice. Joel Rosario was aboard the winner. May Day Rose and Cal...Read More
