  • travel_vic · The good ones know, for example with Shug in the case of Storm Flag Flying....They knew and stopped with her as one should. Laid her off and when she came back running like an allowance horse in the decline they retired her to the farm. LOGICAL. realizing what WAS rather than what they THOUGHT it was. · 569 days ago
  • cocoa2 · Shug has always been good with fillies. · 569 days ago
Master of Hounds has been pretty thoroughly tested on all 3 surfaces now. On conventional dirt in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, and on synthetics(tapeta) in the UAE Derby by Aidan O'Brien, and on tapeta in the Al Maktoum Challenge Rd. 3 and Dubai World Cup by Mike De Kock. Although he ran very creditable races in the Kentucky Derby, UAE Derby, and AMC Rd. 3, I believe Master of Hounds has shown that turf is where he seems to be at his best, IMO. Having won the G1 Jebel-Hatta in Dubai earlier in the season and today having won another very handsome purse in the International Topkapi Trophy in Turkey.

moh back in the winners circle today at dubai in the jebel hatta stakes.
Looked great winning the Jebel hatta wire to wire running 1/18 mile on turf.
Saw this horse up close before the race today, what a beautiful horse...He looks like he could do 1st easy by the look in his eyes! He has the same sincere, powerful, friendly look as Zenyatta! I pray they all come to the finishline safe & sound!
To Auturolaguna: hello my folks, you misunderstood completely, i am not from Banagalore, neither i live in India, i am canadian, living in Canada 38 years, before i lived in England for 5 years and Germany for 5 years, and i was involved in horse racing from the age of 19 in India, i have more knowledge in horce racing and horse pedigree far more than you, so first try to understand the meaning of Bloodline connecting each other with sire and grand sires, Kingmambo was the son of Mr. Prospector, the dam Silk & Scarlet was daughter of Sadlers Well, Mr. Prospector's sire was Raise A Naitive, SDadler's Weell's sire was Northern Dancer, Nureyev is the sire of Miesque (who used to be super miler, the best miler ever seen) she is Kingmambo's mother. what i meant in this discussion that neither of these was a long distance runner, they were all either miler or middle distance runner, did you get it. i do not have learn from anybody, the knowledge i have i can teach you very good.
Well, stamina will be the deciding factor, like any other Belmont Satke going 12 furlongs. As this year's 3 year are more endowed with closing speed, it will be difficult for a front runner to go all the way. Master of Hounds who was quarantined before the Derby and only got in some work 1 week before the 'run for the roses' was seen finishing like a train along the rails at the end of the mile and a quarter event to end up in 6 th place.Skipping the Preakness and getting in some good works can only see this one improving from here on end. The owner of the Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi who came from last in the final 2 furlongs to win the Derby, John Magnier, owns Master of Hounds.
aidan p. obrien is the best trainer of this type of distance...master of hounds def have the best pedigree for this distance...he will win this race very easy...only 12 horses ..best post..best jockey on field...plus best trainnerworking with this type of horses..this is a steal
  • blooy · turf · 1209 days ago
  • irishmachinemasterofhounds · blooy a 5 years old child know aidan p .obrien is allabout turf..but who care if he have a horse can make this trip.more distance this horse is better just look at dubai run..pace was slow he was close in pace and he was close.. is a lot different in distance almost 27 seconds long than preakness 202 around of 229 around...master will win this one ... · 1208 days ago
There are just too many variables to overcome with him from his past performances. So far he shows Euro turf sprints; a 6th place finish in the BC Juv Turf and his Derby qualifier was a 2nd place finish in the Grade 2, 1 3/16 UAE Derby, on the turf in Dubai. In his Kentucky Derby run, he did respond to Gomez and handled the traffic but finished 5th. Then they shipped him back to Europe and now back again! The post will help him save some ground and he'll get the distance but do his handlers have a plan?
  • PeteMullinax · The Dubai race was on synthetic, not turf, in fact that was the one that has made me consider him here. He looked OK to handle the Bel distance and should get a good trip. His two 115 TimeForm ratings also match up quite well with a so so crop of 3 year olds · 1208 days ago
I see Master of Hounds as Animal Kingdom’s main opponent in the Belmont Stakes. Throughout his young career, he has proven to be a resilient racehorse. Master of Hounds has remained at the top of the sport on an international stage for his entire career, which is quite impressive for such a youngster.
who ever said that i am giving wrong informations, i said to them, go back and study the full sire ,grand sires and great grand sires, then talk to me that i am giving wrong informations, those said , i am telling those guys, you do not know anything about pedigrees, pedigree play a very important role to know wether the horse can go the distance or not, also give you an idea how strong the horse might be ? and also speed and stamina?
  • blooy · i don't like his footing, thats my problem with master of hounds. maybe he will prove better this time. distance and stamina are great, but if the surface is not to their liking then all that is a problem. just saying. why didn't bet him in the derby. · 1217 days ago
  • icyhotboo · just because a horse is fast and has stamina doesn't mean he'll pass it on to his progeny until he proves he can. After the fourth generation you can throw pedigree out as it's to weak to be effective. · 1216 days ago
"Gomez said we should strongly think about going back and we might go back for the Belmont because the Preakness will come too quick. We think the Belmont should suit him." - Trainer Aidan O'Brien
Hope the luck if the Irish will reign at the Kentucky Derby Saturday ...
I guess some may have missed that the Hound came off an almost 5 month layoff and travelled 4 time zones to get to Dubai. The Hound's connections recognize that he is not a true turf horse. He does not have the explosive turn of foot that true turf horses possess. He is a grinder and a stayer, bred to run all day. Master Of Hounds in front at the finish line in the 137th Kentucky Derby.
Let's hope master of Hounds can get over his east to west jet lag pretty quickly since he is shipping from Ireland on Tuesday. If he doesn't his lithe horsey body is going to be thinking that his race on Saturday is at midnight, given the six hour time difference. If you took a decent horse and made him race at midnight wouldn't he be a little sleepy?
The Master should be heading to CD very soon, if all is well. His Dosage Profile of; DP = 12-2-30-12-0 (56). His Dosage Index DI = 1.07 and his Center of Distribution CD = 0.25 speaks volumes about his star like confirmation and he will be the most regally bred runner if he goes the first Sturday in May.

  • horses · You have to admit, Master of Hounds is a legitimate wild card horse in the Derby. It's hard for any of us to really say that he won't be competitive. · 1249 days ago
  • blooy · it is not often there is a horse that runs great on both surfaces. master of hounds is tough on turf and synthetic.i would have like to see a run on dirt before the derby. but meh. · 1249 days ago
Master Of Hounds scratches from 2000 Guineas at Newcastle. With Aidan O'Brien scratching Alexander Pope (Danehill Dancer [Ire]) and Master of Hounds (Kingmambo) Thursday, the classic is made up of the smallest field since Mark of Esteem (Ire) beat a dozen in 1996.
you guys are making serious mistake by saying bayer speed, bayer speed does,nt play any roll on 3 years old horses, because they are still juvinelle, not matured yet, lot of time to grow, you should look their performances and fittness and the stamina, when they grow to 4 years old, yes, this time beyer speed definately is very important factor, in this derby as far as i know, beyer number is but an illusion. Finish time, pedegree, fitness , stamina and the way they run in the races and also their workouts, i follow these criteria and i am very successful, not always in winning stand, but when i pick upi, i pick up good, the horse racing is not an emotional and propaganda games, it involves huge amount of money, so think positively and be aware of other people gossips.use your judgement, because it is your money.
  • blooy · speed is important. just one thing i watch for against top byer is class. if you're in the same class as the top byer, you can be 20 less than it and win. just depends on the pace.or wach out for the horse who runs the same damn thing everytime, when the race crumbles that turtle can win it. just the patterns i have seen before. · 1251 days ago
I haven't changed my mind about him. I absolutely love his breeding, and think he will upset the field in the Kentucky Derby. I watched his races, and he doesn't give me the impression of being a true turf horse. I think he will relish the dirt surface, and when the others are backing because of their distance limitations, he'll be striding out. He came off an almost 5 month layoff to miss by a whisker in Dubai. As Aidan O'Brien said, "He's a big, strong horse, and he will only improve," off of that effort. Having a dosage of 1, he's bred to run all day.

  • medlocke · August Song, I follow European turf racing even closer than American racing. I've seen every one of Master of Hounds starts, and you're 110% correct. He's absolutely capable of beating this year's Kentucky Derby field. If is European turf form and Dubai tapeta form translate over to conventional dirt o.k.? I'd give him a huge chance. MOH has faced top caliber, G1 winning horses in Europe and Dubai. He's also one in the field that will very likely make the 10f trip without any problem, IMO. · 1253 days ago
  • blooy · if he can rock the dirt, look out derby. · 1253 days ago
Master of Hounds have very strong pedegree, his motherside is very strong, sadler's wells and his father side mr. Prospector and Miesque(SUPER MILER)
