What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Marsh Side...

Two-time Canadian grade I winner Marsh Side will join the Questroyal Stud stallion roster in 2011 at Silvernails Farm near Pine Plains, N.Y. An introductory stud fee of $2,000 (stands and nurses) is being offered to the owners of the first 50 mares booked to Marsh Side...Read More
It was an ominous beginning for Irish-bred Joshua Tree, who delayed the start of the $2 million Pattison Canadian International (Can-IT) because he lost a shoe in the paddock. But after he got his equipment issues figured out the 3-year-old colt was just fine, as he took the lead in mid-stretch and ...Read More
Juddmonte Farms' Redwood, winner of the Northern Dancer Stakes (Can-IT) in his initial North American start for trainer Barry Hills, returns to Woodbine as the morning line favorite for the $2 million Pattison Canadian International (Can-IT) Oct. 16. Each year, it seems the Breeders’ Cup Turf (gr. IT) paints the same bleak picture for the American grass horses. Whether it’s Conduit, who captured the last two BC Turfs, or the 10-1 Red Rocks in 2006, or the 1,2,3,4 Euro blitz in 2005, the Americans have had a tough time defending their home turf. Read More

  • medlocke · Difficult, but not impossible. Goldikova is still on top of her game. But she has lost a step from her 2008 and 2009 Breeders Cup Mile-Turf victories. I think the 2010 B.C. Mile-Turf will prove to be Goldikova at her most vulnerable in any of her three attempts. If Sidney's Candy run's the 8 furlongs of the B.C. Mile anything at all like he ran the 8-1/2 furlongs of the La Jolla Handicap, setting a new Del Mar turf course record for 8-1/2 furlongs in his only lifetime start on turf, I think he has a big chance. He ran those 8-1/2 furlongs like he was in a 6 furlong sprint race. Also, if the Court Vision that showed up and won the 2010 Woodbine Mile run's that well in the B.C.Mile-Turf? He's got a very realistic chance at beating the Euro's as well. I'd say the Euro's have an advantage. But America does have a couple of turf mile contenders in Sidney's Candy and Court Vision that are more than capable of springing the upset. JMO. · 1307 days ago ·

Castleton Lyons’ Gio Ponti, who captured last summer’s Grade I Arlington Million as the fans’ favorite, looms as an even stronger 7-5 choice in the morning line as he faces nine rivals in Saturday’s 28th running of the centerpiece race of the Chicago Thoroughbred racing season – run at a mile and a ...Read More
  • medlocke · The three European turf horses that will run against Gio Ponti in the Arlington Million, I have seen all three of them in their races in 2010. Debussy, if Gio Ponti is not on his "A" game, could be a real threat. He's really a bit better horse than even his numbers suggest. Debussy won the G3 Huxley Stakes at Chester back in May. Beating a very good field of rivals, and looking pretty impressive in the race. He most recently just finished 4th in the Sky Bet York Stakes won by Summit Surge. Who is also in today's field. Tazeez is also another Euro horse that could be dangerous to Gio Ponti. He seems to be improving every race. Finishing 3rd behind Byword and Twice Over in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal-Ascot back in June. And most recently having again finished 3rd at Newmarket in the Princess of Wales Stakes. Beaten by Sans Frontiers and Redwood. But Tazeez has every chance to win the Princess of Wales, and also finished ahead of Spanish Moon, who was a heavy favorite to win the race. But if Gio Ponti runs to the form he capable of running? He should become a back to back winner of the Arlington Million, IMO. · 1337 days ago ·

  • Medlocke · I really felt that Conduit would at least hit the board in the Japan Cup. He did, however, manage a 4th place finish in a race with quite a large field. But losing to Vodka in Japan is no disgrace. That would be kind of like Conduit losing to Goldikova or Dar Re Mi in his own country. Vodka is truly a champion mare who has beaten the boy's more than once in her career. · 1601 days ago ·
