What the Nation is saying about Marathon Lady...

One year ago on Cigar Mile Day at Aqueduct Racetrack, Kiaran McLaughlin saddled favored Dance Card to a four-length victory in the Grade 1 Gazelle to close out her 3-year-old campaign. On Saturday, the trainer is hoping another sophomore filly can bring home a stakes win on the Cigar Mile undercard ...Read More
Fiftyshadesofhay is not the best filly in the country. Princess of Sylmar holds that distinction, with Beholder and Close Hatches being the ones nipping at her heels. I guess you could say that leaves the Mike Pegram and partners filly as a second-flighter. Let me tell you, as far as second-flighter...Read More
  • ekindy · I didn't give Fiftyshadesofhay her due because I didn't think she'd get the distance in the Alabama. That cost me a more than a few bucks. I think she is very solidly the third best 3 YO filly in an excellent class this year. She travels well too, that's a huge plus. Because of that she's going to get a Grade I as a four year old somewhere along the line. · 194 days ago ·
  • AndyScoggin · I was at that Black-Eyed Susan win and she sure looked impressive that day. I think she's going to like her visit to Indiana. · 194 days ago ·
Princess of Sylmar will make her first start since winning the Kentucky Oaks when she competes in the Grade 1, $300,000 TVG Coaching Club American Oaks on Saturday at Saratoga Race Course.Read More

Dreaming of Julia is the overwhelming 1-2 morning line favorite in Saturday's Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park. Read More
  • buds · I wish we could get some graded stakes that would attract more than 5 horses. With such small fields even the longshots are 8-1. I cant wait until the BC preps are in full swing. · 299 days ago ·
How does Dreaming of Julia stack up in the very tough three year-old filly division? Her performance in the Mother Goose should let us know.Read More

  • Mike in SB · Looks to me like a two horse race and Dreaming of Julia will be hard to beat. But 5 horses in a historic race like this? Racing needs a central office that can schedule races around the country. I know horses don't ship around much anymore but it probably doesn't help that the Hollywood Oaks is on the same day. If you combined the fields of the two races it would be a real Grade One race. · 300 days ago ·

Stonestreet Stables’ Dreaming of Julia stood out on a busy Sunday worktab for trainer Todd Pletcher, breezing a half-mile over the Belmont Park training track in 49.07 ahead of Saturday’s Grade 1, $300,000 Mother Goose Stakes. Read More
In the 89th running of Black-Eyed Susan at Pimlico, it was Bob Baffert, and blinkers, and no more Beholder, as Fiftyshadesofhay got up to win by a neck.Read More

  • travel_vic · the standardbred community has much more exotic equipment to do the same thing: one that is particularly interesting is a device akin to putting plastic straws perpendicular to the upper circumference of a large shadow roll so the animal has a blocked view at multiple slots ahead and keeps them going forward and not looking at the competition moving up along side of it....Innovative and effective · 333 days ago ·
  • AndyScoggin · Fiftyshadesofhay earned a 92 BSF in the B-ES. · 332 days ago ·

The grit of a two determined fillies turned the $100,000 Fathead Bourbonette Oaks (G3) into a heart-stopper Saturday at Turfway Park, with Silsita digging hard to catch Marathon Lady by the barest nose at the wire and join the ranks of graded stakes winners.Read More
