Breeders Cup Turf winner Magician holds off the very game Parish Hall by a neck to win the G3 Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh in Ireland. Trainer Aidan O'Brien said he'll be going the same tried and tested path he's taken with horses like Fame and Glory, So You Think, & Camelot from this race and willl send Magician to the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup next later this month.
  • Northport · It's been just over 5 weeks since the Sheema Classic, and it looked like he had to work for this one. Hopefully he will be a bit fresher next time out · 67 days ago
  • ILuvTurfRacing · @Northport, I'll bet the people who backed Magician at 1-6 were sweating bullets inside the final furlong of this race, LOL. Though in fairness, lest we forget that Parish Hall was a G1 winner as a 2yo of the G1 Dewhurst Stakes but had a long absence before he ever got to race again due to injury. He mised all of the 3yo classic races because of his injury after winning the Dewhurst at the end of his 2yo season. · 67 days ago
Let's go Magician!
Wow these GALILEO's are Monsters. Colts like this are why Mike Tabor Pumps so many millions into our Wonderful Sport. We all know aidan o'brien has him DEADFIT. Take an exacta p/w 4/3,11,12,15 then 3,11,12,15/4 . on paper it looks like magician@gentildonna cold but the 3@11 are really sneaky. the 3 only got beat a nose in the japan cup to gentildonna. That race was only for 4.8 million thats all
  • Sullivan · The way he is buying War Fronts, you have to wonder at what point Hancock will send the horse to Tipperary · 105 days ago
Keep him here.
This horse is the least talked about out of the BC and I think he ran the best race out of the Euros.

Could be the one to challenge Dawn Approach in the SJPS. Toronado in here as well, this is gonna be a good one.
This just came out on RacingPost.com about 10 minutes ago: Magician is a doubt for Tuesday's G1 St. James's Palace Stakes after suffering a setback. According to trainer Aidan O'Brien, Magician suffered some minor bruising from a knock he took on Thursday. A final decision will be made on Sunday as to Magician's participation in the St. Jame's Palace Stakes. Should Magician fail to go, O'Brien has said he "deputize" Mars to run in his stead, pulling him from his intended G3 Tercentenary Stakes entry. For me personally, losing Magician from the field would take a whole lot of sting out of the race. We've been treated to a terrific performance by Dawn Approach in the G1 English 2000 Guineas and we've been treated to a terrific performance by Magician in the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas this season. It will be a real shame if the 2 don't get to knock heads at Ascot.
What I've been reading and hearing most of the thoroughbred analyst in the UK saying post-Irish 2000 Guineas today is that it's doubtful we'll see Magician next weekend in the G1 Epsom Derby. Most of the "so-called" experts seem to think Magician's next most likely target will be either the G1 Prix Du Jockey Club(French Derby) over 10-1/2f at Chantilly or the G1 St. James's Palace Stakes at Royal-Ascot in mid-June during the royal meeting.
Wow he looked great!
