What the Nation is saying about Maclean's Music...

heres my opinion on this horse. he freaked and after he did they wanted to give him some workouts to see if he could even come close to what he did in his msw win. he failed to meet the connections expectations and will probably never race again. its a shame because i thought we had another barbaro or curlin kind of horse. i guess time will tell. but time is running out. very unfortunate
Where have those 120 Beyer horses gone? I miss them. You should, too. When I broached the subject of this column to Andrew Beyer, he said it was going to be depressing reading. True enough, but also, hopefully, educational. I have questions. Perhaps, somebody has answers. Read More

  • amfuller · Finally and update, "Fans of 114-Beyer debut winner MACLEAN'S MUSIC will be delighted to know that the 3-year-old son of Distorted Humor is back in training at Churchill Downs "after a few weeks off from a minor setback," according to an e-mail from Lesley Howard of Stonestreet Farms" · 339 days ago ·

Does anyone know when he is running again?
Any idea when he's going to run again? This horse could be a monster.

there is no way a horse can win the ky derby after breaking his maiden race, he will be coughing up blood after a mile, plus the jockey is to old, cant hold are rate the strong colt, up the track, also ran.
  • brianalanvh · what? this horse isn't even in the derby. Strangely enough though their are horses who broke their maidens IN the Kentucky derby. · 390 days ago ·

Monday, Maclean’s Music worked five furlongs in 1:02.40, his se...Read More

A 114 speed rating is nice but experience is lacking. What's more important on the First Sat in May, pure speed, pure class or pure power? I vote for pure experience and class combo every time!

  • Mike in SB · It was funny to see Mike Smith in Rachel's silks, but he seems to be riding a lot of Asmussens's horses. It is great that Asmussen is in California this year. I wish more eastern trainers would ship out for big races. Hey it is a dirt track now! · 431 days ago ·

A 114 Beyer!!! Great pedigree as well! From a great family, Family 8 (8-c, Woodbine). Here are his damsires (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.): Unbridled's Song, Gone West, Damascus (I/C), Buckpasser (C), Majestic Prince, Better Self, Eight Thirty (I), Hourless, Sardanapale (P), Carbine, Bend Or, Galopin and on and on with great European runners...WOW!!! Can't wait to see if he's the real deal in his next start!
Word is he got a Beyer of 110 for his debut this weekend at Santa Anita. Wow!

There is much to like about the way that Maclean's Music won his career debut in Saturday's eighth race. Ridden by Mike Smith, Maclean's Music, by Distorted Humor, disputed the early lead with Cherryzapper through early fractions of 21.24 and 43.48 seconds, took  command on the turn and pulled ...Read More
