With great turf races already in the book, we can all look forward to seeing a field of superstars come together, but only if the stars align.Read More

I picture him being a Danny Devito type running around the race track, hitting bets w/out a raciing form. Let the man be, he adds character to the same ol' same ol' on here. · 72 days ago ·

I'm certainly not suggesting Little Mike's not capable of winning Saturday's G1 Al Maktoum Challenge Rd. 3. I think a lot of people made that suggestion about him in the G1 Arlington Million & G1 BC Turf and we all know how those 2 races turned out for him. That being said, he's certainly got his work cut out for him, because there's several horses in the field who have strong, proven form lines over Meydan's tapeta surface. Among them being Monterosso, Hunter's Light, Kassiano, Mendip, Prince Bishop, Haatheq, Jamr, & Surfer.

The initial round of entries just came out a couple of hours ago for Saturday's big graded/group stakes races at Meydan. Little Mike and Dullahan are both cross entered in the G3 Burj Nahaar at a mile on tapeta and the G1 Al Maktoum Challenge Rd. 3 at 10f on tapeta. Looks pretty likely we'll being seeing both horses on Saturday in one or both of those races.

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @On The Gallop's, I completely agree with you statement. Royal Delta & Animal Kingdom both would've greatly benefited from at least one prep over Meydan's tapeta main track. Historically, the horses who've shown up to the Carnival early and get a run or two into them have fared a lot better than the horses who've shipped in strictly to run on world cup night. · 77 days ago ·

  • zxswordxz · It amaze me how many people think AK could not win the race. I love AK and I think Johnny V as his pilot could have make a difference in the outcome or if Joel would have a bit more patient but I really don't blame Joel, it is first time on AK and I really don't think he knows AK strength and weakness like Johnny does. · 99 days ago ·

  • RichardGross · My point: It's settling in after the travel and the place more than the surface. By the time Curlin won in a hand ride (yes, on real dirt), he felt like it was home. having been there since late January (and winning the Jaguar for practice). Well Armed (third in that race) wins the next year on a less-than-perfect day with an amazing trip and a first-time DWC rider. Hey, guess where Gloria de Campeao finished? Neither he nor Lizard's Desire returned in 2011 when the Japanese take win and place. But show? Why do I think this is so obvious? Because it is. · 109 days ago ·
