What the Nation is saying about Lilacs And Lace...

Ashland Stakes (gr. I) winner Lilacs and Lace was sold to a Japanese breeder for an undisclosed amount and was sent to that country shortly after the May 6 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), according to former majority owner Jim Covello.“(The sale price) was just too good to pass up,” said Covello, who decline...Read More
Medaglia d’Oro has produced magic twice in the last three years in America’s most celebrated race for three year old fillies. In 2009 Rachel Alexandra set the bar at an unreachable height with her 20 ¼ length victory in the Kentucky Oaks when she came within 1/5 of a second of the stakes record. In ...Read More
  • BrianZipse · Great coverage of the Oaks, Brian. The top two were the best and ran great ... I am still hoping that St. John's River got there, but Plum Pretty was a deserving winner. I wonder if any of these will wheel back for the Black-Eyed Susan? · 384 days ago ·

24 hours from racing’s biggest day, I find myself needing to take a breath and put my Derby thoughts on hold for just a little … for today is fillies’ day, and they run for the lilies. The 136th Kentucky Oaks is just one week away. • KyOaksRunner · It certainly looks like she'll have the best shot of the long-shots to take down the favorites but she's not my win pick as of now. I loved how she was flying in the Fair Grounds Oaks, a swift and sustained drive....kind of the like the female version of Nehro maybe? :) · 391 days ago ·

  • LDP19 · Kath does not impress me on dirt/syns as much as she does turf. Though most versitile turf runners, ie. Einstein tend to transfer well to CD dirt couse well. I have no idea what happened to Dreams. Maybe she is a CD lover??? I know she won at Keenleland, but that was a maiden and not a grade one. If she goes to the Oaks she'll be, IMO a bit of a wild card. Will she return to her dominating form that she showed over that track or will she not be able to step up again. R Heat has a big performance over the track, only Awesome Feather -unbeaten in 6- wore her down. She can lead or close -Spinaway.- and she has been the most dominant up to this point. Joyful Victory has Larry Jones which scares me because that man can tain like no other. Hard Spun and Proud Spell are proof of that. · 411 days ago ·
