What the Nation is saying about Life At Ten...

I miss her so:(
A year after the Life At Ten Fiasco, the Churchill Downs stewards, more so than anyone else, needed a good couple of days at the Breeders' Cup to redeem themselves and to restore the public's confidence in them. It didn't happen. The one time they were called upon to make a decision they got the cal...Read More

  • dsparrowd · Last Year on the Friday I had the triactor until the stewards took my horse down. I believe it was the ist time for that. How would you feel if your had Court Vision,Turallure, Gio Ponte & Mr.Commons in a tri box or heavens forbid in a super box. From what I saw Goldikova should have been taken down and put behind Courageous Cat who she obviously interfered with and finished last. With the 7-5 favorite out of the picture just try to imagine what the tri would have paid? how much for the super? Are we talking $ 500,000. Its absolutely criminal that this horse was not placed last. Thank God I didn't have the ticket I just mentioned above. The stewards should be fired! · 87 days ago ·

  • GypsyRose · Ok so I have a question about this. When I originally saw the race and she made that move I immediately thought oh yes she has to be taken down. I was sad cause on her last race that's not a way you want this fabulous horse to go out. But my question is, it looked like Courageous Cat was fading out of contention, does anyone think that has anything to do with the call? Because it wouldn't have made a difference because he was fading and wasn't going to win? I'm just asking, I'm not a genius at this horse racing stuff :) I'm just glad everyone emerged okay and unharmed. · 83 days ago ·

  • keeneland dan · Good Points, I like Royal Delta to win the race, and to wear down Plum Pretty in the stretch. Also Drill is one of a few that can win the 2yr old race. West coast horses did not do so well last yr other then the dirt mile fluke which I took all so I was happy. Baffert horses this yr besides Drill dont look to promising. · 116 days ago ·

Life At Ten, the star-crossed multiple grade I winner whose career will likely be best remembered for a race she did not win, has been retired following a last-place finish in the $350,000 Beldame Stakes (gr. • Mike in SB · I thought Havre de Grace's win was the most impressive of the weekend by far, and with Flat Out winning the Gold Cup, she has to be the favorite for the Classic. Actually a lot of the Breeders Cup races are starting to look pretty good. Havre de Grace, Uncle Mo and the rest in the Classic makes it look like a better race now than it did a few months ago and the Ladies Classic looks wide open now. If the Arc Winner comes over and So You Think runs in the Classic this could be a very good Breeders Cup. · 123 days ago ·

  • DeadHeat · Mike I completely agree about the Classic. The fact that you have some definitive stars now makes the race come up much better. I mean with the list of horses i said in my blog, there are what 6 grade one winner heading for the race? Makes it look much more competitive. · 123 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · @boxersdaddy - She's been training well, but with the exception of finishing ahead of Ask the Moon in the Sky Beauty Stakes in early July, she really hasn't shown much this year. I think she'll need to improve 100% to make a dent in the top two. · 126 days ago ·

  • DeadHeat · Too bad that the only horse with the guts to take HDG on was RD. Both IT and ATM's connections played a big time duck card. ATM had no reason to go out west, not with the distance being so short and the purse being lower. They went west because they didn't want to face HDG, not because of any one turn crap. If the one turn made that huge of a difference you would see BD, JP, TS and a few others in the Vosburgh go to the Kelso. IT I don't think has ever lost at Belmont and is a beast in NY over 9fl. She absolutely slammed RD last time going 9f. Parx has much easier competition so her connections opted there instead. The only reason this field is not as strong as it has been recently is because of the monster racing in it. · 126 days ago ·

  • annmatt · I kind of wish Life at Ten's connections would give her some easier races.....Really surprised she's carrying the same weight as HdG and that she's conceding weight to Royal Delta! How is this possible? As much as I know Havre de Grace is likely to dominate this race, I think I would cry tears of pure joy if somehow Life At Ten were to win it. · 128 days ago ·

  • ajump08 · Only fact I'm scared of is that of Mo's three 2yo races, the Champagne was by far the least impressive. I think he's better than ever, and ten times the best horse in this field. Even if Belmont isn't his favorite track, he should beat these with authority. He is that good. Remember what he did in the King's Bishop was off a long layoff, horses improve second out the majority of the time. · 131 days ago ·

  • medlocke · Mark my words. Stay Thirsty will fare a lot better in this year's BC Classic than Uncle Mo will. Mo is not anywhere near ready for a run at the Classic this season. Pletcher and Repole are asking a lot of Mo to run 1-1/4 at Churchill Downs, which is one of the most demanding 1-1/4 of any track in the country, with only one run over 7f coming off of a long lay-off. Which saw him battling a life threatening liver ailment besides. I'm not really sure what Repole and Pletcher are thinking here? But Mo should definitely have been toward the Dirt Mile this year. The winner's share of the Dirt Mile purse, which I feel like Mo would dominate, is a lot better than no share of the Classic purse. Uncle Mo won't even make the frame in this year's Classic. He'll run about 8-1/2 or 9f of the Classic strong. Then he'll fade like old ink in the final 1 or 1-1/2f. TJMO. · 138 days ago ·

  • HORSEFACE · when uncle mo get's beat in tthe classic it's ok..... Repole & Pletcher will have a good excuse for that uncle mo is a good horse and that is not goin to be enough to win the breeders cup classic comeing off of two prep races not going longer than one mile, UNCLE MO is no super horse and he would have to be superman to get that job done, but dont worry the trainer and the owner are thnking of a good excuse to sell the fans why MO couldnt get the job done. · 137 days ago ·

damn fine mare! i still blame pletcher for her issue at the bclc last november. he should have seen what the rest of us saw. of course, low man on the totem pole, j.v., got the blame for it. lat was todd's first brain fart of bc10. his 2nd was not entering qr in the dirt mile, where he had a chance. todd is a big money winning trainer, but true horseman, he is not.
