  • DeadHeat · I would say Grace gets it again for horse of the year. However, I do think 2012 will end the female streak. The male division looks loaded with some nice horses coming back in PrePeg, MMM, Nehro, AK, Trickmiester, etc. You also have many nice three year olds looking to step up. · 42 days ago ·

Why couldn’t the horse that is the farthest from a lock, the one that nobody expects, be the one to rise to the occasion? Read More

  • DeadHeat · Bearing our can indicate inexperience also. Most horses running in the Derby exert an effort that they have never had to do before, and bearing out in the stretch is also not uncommon, especially for a horse who was in his fifth lifetime start. He got ahead and probably lost focus, which a lot of horses will do. · 267 days ago ·

  • Mike in SB · I think he has a big shot at the Triple Crown. The Preakness winner usually comes out of the Derby and Mucho Macho Man looks like the only horse from the Derby that could beat him. The Belmont will be tough, but it seems to be a riders race and Animal Kingdom will have a great jockey for the Belmont This could be the year! · 266 days ago ·

Saturday’s Vinery Spiral champion ANIMAL KINGDOM was highly regarded before he stepped foot on a race track. Wil the son of Champions transfer his form to the dirt?Read More

  • BrianBarnett · A friend of mine Trains Horses at Turfway Park. The Trainer told me Animal Kingdom shipped into his barn the day of the Spiral Stakes, then shipped out that night. Give the horse some rest. · 317 days ago ·

  • JohnNicoletti · In my humble opinion. He is the horse to beat, along with Master ofThe Hounds. Master of The Hounds is used to crrying high weight. Check past performance. Carried as much as 129Lbs. Never carried less than 122. Could be the upset horse of the derby. At 20-1 love him. · 278 days ago ·

Perhaps none of the past weekend’s workouts was more anticipated than the main track work by Animal Kingdom, who has never run on dirt or worked over it all year and who had his first scheduled dirt drill canceled last week due to bad track conditions at Churchill Downs. The good news is that his wor...Read More

This weekend's Derby prep races were rather uninspiring to say the least. I haven't been one to criticize 3-year old crops in the past, but jeez this group just doesn't seem to step up when the spotlight's on. Maybe it's because they are pretenders and those that already have the necessary graded ea...Read More

We've already covered the one-two for Afleet Alex in the Pegasus Stakes (gr.
