What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Left...

  • sallyeastman · Brent, you love everybody so much! Name three horses in the top twenty earnings whom you would toss. You are such an optimist. I can name several I'll toss! Hahahaaa! · 425 days ago ·

Assistant trainer Rick Giannini of conditioner Neil Howard’s barn reported that Courtlandt Farms’ Machen and Gaillardia Racing’s Wilkinson, fifth and sixth, respectively, in Saturday’s $1 million Louisiana Derby, both came out of the race in good order.   “They’re both fine,” said Giannini. “M...Read More
Late last October, Al Stall Jr. was just a little busy. He had this horse, Blame, who readers may recall was prepping for a start against (and eventual victory over) Zenyatta in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Churchill Downs. So jockey Jesse Campbell, checking in after working a runner at Fair Grounds...Read More

  • brent.austin.neikirk · I concur! I love this guy and his daddy was/is one of my favorite horses of all time! I really hope EA runs well this weekend and I think he will do just that. I also like Wilkinson and his daddy, LDK. Left is the other that I'm going with in the LA Derby. · 431 days ago ·

Adele Dilschneider and Claiborne Farm’s Left could be forgiven if he was feeling somewhat, uh, “left out” in all the hype leading up to this year’s $1 million Louisiana Derby.   The son of Arch is undefeated in his only two lifetime starts, both at Fair Grounds this season – one on dirt and on...Read More
Let a stamina oriented pedigree. Left’s distaff family is filled with stakes quality runners. His dam was unplaced in her only start and is a full sister to the precocious Laity, winner of the Cradle and John Battaglia Memorial. Her half sister Trip is a multiple G-3 winner and produced another Cradle winner in Passport. Another stakes winning half sister, Joke, produced the multiple Grade 1 hero Zensational.
  • arazi · Wow, that changed quick! I guess that's what racing secretaries need to do - put out a press release saying you have a 5-horse field and all of a sudden everyone jumps in. Not that Elite Alex's connections made a bad move, but it's funny that they scratched from an 11-horse field saying it was too big and ended up with 13. For what it's worth, I really like Nacho Business in this spot. · 434 days ago ·

Quality breeding, two quality wins, looks like a contender for LA Derby
Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider’s Left, who has done everything “right,” according to his tongue-in-cheek trainer Al Stall Jr., since the colt arrived in New Orleans this winter, is slated to shoot for his third straight win and remain undefeated by capturing the $1 million Louisiana Derby &nb...Read More
Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider’s Left remains on track for his upcoming assignment in the Grade II Louisiana Derby March 26 and Adele Dilschneider’s Apart is being pointed for the Grade II New Orleans Handicap on that same star-studded program, trainer Al Stall Jr. confirmed Friday morning du...Read More
D. Wayne Lukas, the last trainer to complete a Louisiana Derby and Kentucky Derby double with Grindstone in 1996, will have a chance to replicate that feat this year with one of two colts under consideration for the March 26 $1 million Louisiana Derby.   “I’m either going to bring the colt tha...Read More
Trainer Al Stall Jr. will saddle Adele Dilschneider’s 3-year-old filly Aide in Tuesday’s $60,000 Mardi Gras Stakes at Fair Grounds, and also is planning to saddle Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider’s 3-year-old colt Left in the upcoming $1 million Louisiana Derby here on March 26 as the centerpi...Read More
No matter how talented a 3-year-old might be, there’s no substitute for racing experience.A young horse needs to learn how to adapt to situations in races, how to deal with adversity, how to compete. Machen learned some lessons Sunday in defeating allowance rivals in his first race around two turns....Read More
