Two absolutely explosive performances on the Tapeta at Meydan during the Dubai Racing Carnival for this Irish colt. He completely dominated both fields that he ran against in Dubai. If ever there was a colt that should have taken a shot at the Dubai World Cup, the way that Leahurst explodes on the Tapeta, it's him. He's certainly shown over the course of his career that 10 furlongs is well withing his ability. I really think had Jeremy Noseda decided to race Leahurst in the World Cup, he would've been quite pleased with the result's that this colt would have accomplished. IMO.
Leahurst came to Dubai having won his first two lifetime starts "impressively" on the synthetic surface at Wolverhampton. Then, on opening day, January 28th, of the 2010 Dubai Racing Carnival at Meydan, he won the Daaher Handicap easily drawing away from the field on the Tapeta surface. A field that included Sirocco Breeze, Green Coast, and Mutheeb. All three having excellent carnival run's themselves. Then, Leahurst comes back on February 18th, again on the Tapeta, to win the Aqlaam Handicap at Meydan. Making him 4 for 4 lifetime over synthetic surfaces, two of the wins on the Tapeta at Meydan. All four wins, at Wolverhampton and Meydan, drawing away from all four fields impressively. If ever there was a horse that should have taken a shot at the Dubai World Cup, this was the horse. Gitano Hernando came into Dubai 4 for 4 lifetime on synthetics, and went off as the favorite. Having never raced on the Tapeta. His win's were at Wolverhampton, Lingfield, and Santa Anita. Leahurst adapted immediately to the Tapeta, and blow both fields away on the surface that he raced. He had raced over the surface more impressively than Lizard's Desire, and look where he ended up finishing in the Dubai World Cup field.
