Nonios saves Hollendorfer's day
Nonios, a son of Pleasantly Perfect, stayed unbeaten in two career starts with an impressive 6 length win over a field that included Cahill Chrome (runner up in the California Derby) and Unveiled Heat (4th in the El Camino Real). He ran the mile in 1:37.43 just the second fastest mile of the meet. B...

Looks like a serious race horse, Don ... is Hollendorfer thinking big with him, i.e. graded stakes for his next start?

As usual Jerry was non-committal about his next race. My guess would be another allowance race, probably down at Santa Anita.

This looks like a serious race horse, not that he beat the best horses, but with the ease he did it. He should run all day with that breeding. I hope he runs in the Bluegrass (*polytrack) or the Arkansas Derby, looks like the big horses will run elsewhere, best to avoid them and get the graded earings.

Not many are talking about her for the Kentucky Oaks. I think they should be!

she looks like she is on the same par as the males in this race. I think she might have a great chance. Post only drawback for me.

El Camino Real Derby 2012 Preview: Daddy Nose Best
Saturday’s El Camino Real Derby is the lone graded route in Northern California’s road to Kentucky Derby 2012 and Daddy Nose Best should offer a hint of value for Steve Asmussen.

Great to see such a solid field assembled at Golden Gate. I think Russian Greek is a deserving favorite, but I could easily see any one of about 7 of these getting it done. Enjoy it, Don!

I don't see Lucky Chappy winning. He has yet to win in the States, but maybe he'll prefer the tapeta surface to the dirt. Looks like it really could be anyone's race.

Im super bummed I'm going to be out of town for this one, would have loved to be there to watch. I still like Russian Greek, and will be pulling for him in hopes of getting some Bay Area representation at Churchill

I like Lucky Chappy, I think he needed that last race & he ran well despite his stable mate setting that slow pace. There seems to be enough early speed in here to set it up for him late.

It will be a Lady Of Fifty for. I like boy horses than girl horse becuase i'm a boy and i vote for male horses but she is just calmer and relaxed than the others. By the way the best horse Ever are males so dont go ruffiian uo in me cause MAN O' WAR, Eclipse, Citation and every triple crown winner s and a lot lot lot other s can beat her she isnt the best. shes good just not the best compared to the best of the best that why she is 35 AND THATS where she is supposed to be becuase the horses ranked 34 to 1 are better than her so 35 is where she supposed to be

I like Russian Greek in this one. If he can pull out the win, the earnings paired with the winner's purse from the Cal Derby give him as good a shot as any to be at the post May 5th.

years ago I saw the leading rider in the US fly in to ride in the california Derby at GGF. The colt barely hung on after opening 4 lengths at the top of the stretch. The rider made liittle difference

@TerryDickens, Lady of Fifty does have a decent shot if she can set a moderate tempo. If the first 6 furlongs are covered in less than 1:11, she'll have to prove to be one tough filly to wire that field

Lady of Fifty could be Hollendorfer's next Kentucky Oaks filly
Having a top notch three-year old filly is nothing new to trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. Three times, Hollendorfer has gotten one of his ladies to the winners circle in the Kentucky Oaks. Such champions as Lite Light (1991), Pike Place Dancer (1996) and Blind Luck (2010) give the hall of famer credibil...
