Queston: Who do you all think was the better 2 year old filly? La Prevoyante or Ruffian.

E.P.,i personally never saw Le Prevoyante race. But i can tell you the following,Disregard the fact ,that Ruffians career was cut short due to the tragedy at Belmont Park.If you can just take her at her very best,I am going on sheer talent and speed and class.I saw Ruffian,i was there that terrible day. Through the years living in N.Y. almost my entire life.I have seen all the great ones live, and have followed the,From Genuine Risk,Ladys Secret,Winning Colors,Rachel to Zennyata. At their very best top performance level.None showed me that they were the equal to the Great Ruffian. This is by no means a slur on the great Mares i mentioned.I just want to point out how great Ruffian was.Buck could probably give you a better comparrison between the 2.It is scary for me to think, that a better filly graced this world than Ruffian. In my opinion, and i am only using sheer talent and ability. She in my mind is one of the 5 Greatest RACEHORSES i have ever seen.

  • CauseForConcern · Brian, if I was to go against Laz's logic, or Mary's(both seem to be right-on), how about Landaluce? · 1016 days ago
  • goblin · I think LAZ may be right with Personal Ensign. One good 2y/o filly that didn't win the Eclipse was Serena's Song, as she ran in the shadow of her stable mate, Flanders, for the duration of their juvenile season in 1994. Serena actually contested the colts in the Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes that year, and finished second to Mr. Purple. She later lost the BC Juvenile Fillies by a head-bob to Flanders. @CFC, I believe Landaluce did win an Eclipse posthumously. · 1016 days ago
She was fantastic to read about in the Daily Racing Forms back in the 1970's.
