Wicked Strong threw his hat into the Kentucky Derby 2014 ring with a sharp late running victory in the Wood Memorial. Wicked Strong, 3rd in the G2 Remsen as a juvenile, put his ugly Gulfstream Park form behind him, and he is not the first closer to loathe the Gulf only to reverse form on fair footin...Read More

  • Dressage3295 · At just a glance at the pedigree, it seemed like he was lacking in stamina, but I dug deeper through the first 5 gen and discovered the female line in packed with stamina. Horses that are winners/placers at 9.5f and past: Not for Love, Dance Number, Northern Dancer x2, Numbered Account x2, Sir Ivor, Native Dancer, Nashua, Nearctic, Buckpasser, Sir Gaylord, and Vaguely Noble. I'd hardly say he is restricted by his pedigree as it gives every indication that California Chrome can make 10f. · 9 days ago ·

  • kay.robinett · Dressage, just following his tail female line alone, he goes back to Ribot daughter (Princess Ribot) who is out of a Princequillo mare~! This female line goes back to the great broodmare Countess Wanda, a female family which has produced three Kentucky Derby winners. California Chrome has some very good mares in his pedigree. Here is a discussion about them (look for the contributions of Bill from Washington, who has a lot of expertise on female influences in a pedigree): http://www.pedigreequery.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=34751 Irregardless, when all is said and done, I have a feeling that this one will write his own pedigree, so to speak on the track. · 9 days ago ·

  • tmallios · There is no illusion here Karnack. There is a reality of youdouble and triple talking. The horses i mentioned came from the clouds, maybe their intellect was just that much greater than the closers that failed. Somehow they were able to conclude exactly what the right time in the race it was to make a move. Vic i made a mistake when i challenged you to give me a thought in your head. That did not work out to good for you,as evidenced by your sorry response. Go back to quoting quacks in print and Internet Media. At least that way it is not a reflection to your true Achilles heel. This past weekend’s Kentucky Derby preps were all about speed as we saw a pair of front runners take down both the San Felipe and Tampa Bay Derby. • geldedridgling · Recently, 2 of the last 7 Kentucky Derby winners ran in the Tampa Derby. Musket man won the Tampa Derby in 2009 and ran 3rd in the Kentucky Derby. Since 2007, if my addition is correct, of the intermediate preps, the Tampa Derby has produced more horses that finished in the top 3 in the Kentucky Derby than the FOY, Risen Star, Rebel, or San Felipe. I’m not saying that’s predictive as the sample is somewhat small but I found it ironic if the results of the Tampa Derby are dismissed. · 40 days ago ·

  • rita.polander · Terrific performance By California Chrome in the S. Felipe. I've got him at 30-1 in KDFW pool 2. He's my #1 horse, #2 in Strong Mandate, looking for a strong performance from him in the Rebel. Cal. Chrome romped after a 6 wk. layoff. If the trainer wants to rest him and train him up to the Derby its ok with me. As long as he bolts out of the gate, gets good position, he has the pedigree and staying power, he will be fresh and training well, they will all be chasing him, and getting tired at the top of the long CD stretch. I look for Strong Mandate to be in the mix also, don't be surprised if Lukas trains Strong Mandate up to the derby if he wins the Rebel. · 42 days ago ·
