Older Comments about Kingsbarns...

Latest entry is in the Voltigeur at York on wednesday but I doubt if he'll run. More likely to find a smaller race in Ireland as a prep. for the Champion Stakes on October 19th.
Kingsbarns went all the way through the various stages of entry for the G3 Royal Whip Stakes on Sunday and was then taken out in final entry phase with Aidan O'Brien leaving only Fortify in the field to represent Ballydoyle. I'm starting to wonder if Kingsbarns is ever gonna be back? I'd been heared the Royal Whip Stakes had been his inteded comeback target for sometime. A G3 over 10f coming off a 10 month layoff sounded plausable, but now I'm lost at sea trying to figure out when or where this horse might turn up next?
  • rafirox · What happened to him? Maybe he can come back in the Champions Stakes? · 1211 days ago
  • Northport · I believe he pulled a shoe and took off a chunk of foot, which lead to an infection, bringing his training to a halt for a bit while prepping for the Guineas · 1211 days ago
Has anyone on this web-site who follows the European turf scene heard any news about when or if Aidan O'Brien is shooting to have Kingsbarns make his 3yo seasonal debut, and if so, what race is O'Brien talking about racing Kingsbarns in? Big fan of this horse and any factual current info would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

  • Euro Trash · Northport responded before I did. I looked at his entries and thought that the Royal Whip and Juddmonte looked to make the most sense. · 1221 days ago
  • ILuvTurfRacing · Thanks to you both Northport & Euro Trash for passing that along to me. Much appreciated. I've been wondering for awhile now what Aidan O'Brien's long term plans might be for Kingsbarns. · 1220 days ago
No kingsbarn in the Guineas. But The Derby is still a go.
From the Coolmore Facebook fan page - "Joseph O'Brien said at Gowran Park this afternoon that Kingsbarns is unlikely to run in the Guineas at Newmarket also he said that there is no reason Kingsbarns won't be ready for the Derby."
Aidan O'Brien told AtTheRace.com on Sunday that his unbeaten winner of the G1 Racing Post Trophy, Kingsbarns, is doubtful for the G1 English 2000 Guineas at Newmarket the first Saturday in May. O'Brien said that Kingsbarns missed 10 days of important work due to a foot infection, and also did not take part in the big racecourse gallop for Coolmore's top horses today at the end of racing at the Curragh. The gallop included in the likes of Camelot, Mars, Pedro The Great, Cristoforo Colombo, Declaration of War, & George Vancouver among others. Kind of a bummer to hear that Kingsbarns will likely miss the Guineas. I was looking forward to seeing him and Dawn Approach go head to head. In light of Jim Bolger's recent comments saying that Dawn Approach will likely be just a top miler this season, it's probably the only race the 2 would have a chance to meet. As Kingsbarns will almost certainly go on up in trip to 12f for the G1 Epsom Derby in June.

Really liking this colt think he has a lot of potential perhaps not in the US but definetly in Ireland.

  • rafirox · I have ATTEMPTED a response at Who Am I TWICE. TWICE I was late. Both on my first guess. In a way, I am pissed (Not actually pissed) at the peeps who beat me, and pisssed at myself for ebing late. But, I am also proud to know that out of two attempts, I easily could have had two wins. · 1416 days ago
  • amino998 · Fabulous. Returning to Kingsbarns, He won the Racing Trophy Stakes quite nicely and with Galileo, Tabor et. al. and O'Brien has attracted the attention of British bookmakers who have him in the top 1/2 dozen for the English Derby. · 1416 days ago
With only 1 prior start and a maiden win to his credit, Kingsbarns becomes the 3rd winner in the past 4 running's of the G1 Racing Post Trophy for Coolmore.
