From the Coolmore Facebook fan page - "Joseph O'Brien said at Gowran Park this afternoon that Kingsbarns is unlikely to run in the Guineas at Newmarket also he said that there is no reason Kingsbarns won't be ready for the Derby."

Aidan O'Brien told AtTheRace.com on Sunday that his unbeaten winner of the G1 Racing Post Trophy, Kingsbarns, is doubtful for the G1 English 2000 Guineas at Newmarket the first Saturday in May. O'Brien said that Kingsbarns missed 10 days of important work due to a foot infection, and also did not take part in the big racecourse gallop for Coolmore's top horses today at the end of racing at the Curragh. The gallop included in the likes of Camelot, Mars, Pedro The Great, Cristoforo Colombo, Declaration of War, & George Vancouver among others. Kind of a bummer to hear that Kingsbarns will likely miss the Guineas. I was looking forward to seeing him and Dawn Approach go head to head. In light of Jim Bolger's recent comments saying that Dawn Approach will likely be just a top miler this season, it's probably the only race the 2 would have a chance to meet. As Kingsbarns will almost certainly go on up in trip to 12f for the G1 Epsom Derby in June.

rafirox · That's disappointing. Good to hear Camelot's doing well. Real good horse that just missed the Triple Crown and had a rough time in the Arc, and finally encountered colic, if I'm not mistaken? Mars is a damn good horse.... Excited to see how George Vancouver moves forward, as I remember watching him in the 2012 BC Juvenile Turf. Dawn Approach, I think, will be very tough to beat in the Guineas. rafirox · Certify's a very, very good filly OTG. Her mile win was a thing to watch. I believe she will dominate the 1000 Guineas. But, do you think she is better than Dawn Approach? His wins are scintillating and domination over and over again. Just a monster with maturity to stretch out. I think Dawn Approach is better than Certify, imo. On The Gallop's · In europe they are very highly regarded, but as usual during the lead up to the Guineas the attention is all on Ballydoyle. But I think it will be Godolphin who will sweep the English Guineas this year. I think over 1 mile Certify is the better of the two. Past that you would think on paper that Dawn Approach is much more certain to excel at longer trips. Being sired by a derby winner who was sired by a Derby winner it definatly IMO makes Dawn Approach a scary foe in all the British Classics. · 60 days ago ·

rafirox · Yes. If I bet it now it'd be Certify/Dawn Approach for the double. I think they both won't have any trouble stretching out. Dawn Approach is very mature. No tugging or pulling of note, and he has the pedigree. Certify just has the looks of a mid distance (10-12 furlongs) horse. Godolphin has quite the cast this year, I expect both to continue to improve. I hope when Certify faces males she whips their asses. Also, in the future, I'd love to see Gentildonna, Orfevere, Camelot, Certify, Dawn Approach meet in the Arc! What a race that would be for the best race internationally, no? · 60 days ago ·

northport · It is pretty common knowledge they have two separate triple crowns, they overlap in that horses frequently travel from one place to the other for races. It is common for a horse to participate in the English 2000 guineas then head to the Curragh for the Irish 2000 guineas, etc. So the competitors aren't really separate... · 128 days ago ·

northport · aren't related. Frankel spent several of his early months there when his mother was covered, then was broke there. I'm not saying they aren't different, but horses constantly go back and forth between the two to race. Sea the Stars, Camelot, Rock of GIbraltar, Homecoming Queen, Canford Cliffs, Dubawi, Sinndar, Alamshar, Nathaniel, Snow Fairy, Ouija Board, any top level Ballydoyle, Godolphin or Aga Khan horse in John Oxx's yard, I could keep listing them. There is racing in Scotland at Ayr, but it is mostly jumps racing and there are no high level flat races. I am not saying they are the exact same, but many trainers in either country will send their horses over for a high level race · 128 days ago ·

With the depression no one takes kindly in Ireland or Derry, Belfast and Ardoyne to being called English or British. They are Irish and Northern Irish. This bullshit about horses going back and fourth, I don't know my euros nor do I care about racing there. It doesn't do anything for me and it is hard enough to follow American racing. I was correcting the ignorance and carelessness of this poster in a kind way, as I know several Irishmen who will beat you up the second you call them Scottish or some other county, especially the rugby players which really matters because they're all over 6'1'' and muscled. The way I've seen it while horses may cross the Irish Sea, no one in England pays all that much attention to the racing in Tipperary (of which I've been to, and I've been to several farms there as well). Enough bullshit, you can group the Irish and English horses together into the British category and bet them. northport · Take a deep breath, I am not debating politics with you, I don't have anything invested in what Swiningonavine said, you haven't even given her/him a chance to defend his/herself, I however am simply talking horses. But you leapt off on a rant that has absolutely nothing to do with what I am saying, which is that is isn't unusual for high level horses to go back and forth (and whether a horse from England or Ireland wins really doesn't matter to me).
