What the Nation is saying about Kera's Kitten...

Dean's Kitten (colt; Kitten's Joy - Summer Theatre by Ide) tracked the early leaders, put away pacesetter Ranger Heartley and held off the closers, to win the Lane's End Stakes (gr. II) by 2.5 lengths. Next stop Louisville! We can say that we knew him back at the beginning.Read More
The $100,000 John Battagia Memorial Stakes, the last of three preps on the way to the $500,000 Lane’s End Stakes (gr. II), drew a field of eight 3-year-olds led by Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s homebred Kera's Kitten and Bred To Win's graded stakes placed Codoy.Read More
The recent trends might "feel" like late bloomers have dominated the Kentucky Derby, but don't be fooled. The top four finishers of the last five Derbies averaged 3.7 starts as 2-year-olds and owned a combined mark of 34-for-79 as juveniles, a smashing 43 percent win rate. Almost half (10) of those ...Read More
As the Kentucky Derby trail heads into February, the WinStar team has been as giddy as young Clara receiving the nutcracker from Uncle Drosselmeyer in the opening party scene of “The Nutcracker.”Read More
Kera's Kitten looked good in the post parade. In contrast to his stumble in the Turfway Prevue Stakes, this time Kera's Kitten got out clean and went right to the lead. Patti's Kitten was near the back. Slowest of all was early favorite Rockin' Rockstar, who was off awkwardly and never got involved....Read More
Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey's Kera's Kitten, far back in the Jan. 2 Turfway Prevue Stakes after a poor start, bounced back in a big way with an easy score in the $50,000 WEBN Stakes for 3-year-olds at Turfway Park Jan. 30.Read More
A few years back when interviewing Tony Dutrow, he told me he was in the racing business to make money and that every horse was for sale. Now that he has WINSLOW HOMER on the Derby trail for julep-yearning owner Rick Porter, it will be interesting to see how his philosophy changes now with a sip of ...Read More
Trainer Mike Maker will saddle two sons of turf champion Kitten's Joy in the $50,000 WEBN Stakes at Turfway Park Jan. 30, one already a stakes winner and the other making his first foray into stakes competition. Both were bred and are owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey.Read More
Afleet Again (colt; Afleet Alex - Lucky Again by Wild Again) raced wide and near the back throughout the Count Fleet Stakes at Aqueduct, finishing 5th. The winner was Laus Deo (Medaglia d'Oro - Shebane by Alysheba), who took command early and held off all comers. I'd like to think that my yelling go...Read More
Longshot Z. I. Zipp scored an upset in the $50,000 Turfway Prevue Stakes at Turfway Park Jan. 2, jumping immediately to the lead and drawing off to win by 4 1/4 lengths under a hand ride by Tom Pompell.Read More
Becky's Kitten was involved early on, but faded to finish 6th in the Tropical Park Derby (gr. IIIT) on yielding turf at Calder. The winner was Fly By Phil (Act of Duty - True Mood by Deputy Minister), who outfinished favorite Lost Aptitude.Read More
The 24th running of the $50,000 Turfway Prevue Stakes at Turfway Park Jan. 2 opens the track's stakes series for 3-year-olds and is the first prep for the Lane's End Stakes (gr. II) in March.Read More
Buddy's Saint (Saint Liam - Tuzia by Blushing John) inhaled pacesetters Citrus Kid and Homeboykris in the Remsen Stakes (gr. II) at Aqueduct and cruised to a 4 3/4 length win. You'll read that the time wasn't impressive and that he had a perfect setup, but he was loafing pretty good after making the...Read More
Churchill Downs concludes its fall meet Saturday with its Stars of Tomorrow II program, 12 races exclusively for two-year-olds. The traditional meet-ending feature, the $150,000 Kentucky Jockey Club S. (G2) at 1 1/16 miles, may give a glimpse at what is to come six months from now in the 136th Kentu...Read More
  • invasor · Pretty cool concept to run a full card of two year olds. Tough to fill fields but great shot for price horses to hit the win spot · 804 days ago ·

  • UpInClass · Two weeks ago, I saw a runner that interested me a bit... I stable mailed 3rd place finisher - #2 Maximus Ruler - might turn out to be a good one. VIDEO REPLAY @ http://www.youtube.com/cdi#p/search/0/sJDIJpp4pxo ...Maximus Ruler goes again Saturday, Race 8 @ Churchill Downs. Morning Line of 5-1... not quite the 53-1 he was in his maiden effort. An entire card of 2yo races this Saturday. Maybe next year's Kentucky Derby winner will be among them... I hope everyone had a good Breeders' Cup. Maiden Watch is back and ready for action. I will use this post to recap all the results from November 6 through November 10, as well as preview Maiden Special Weight races for November 11. I will not list all the workouts missed during this period, just the...Read More
A special blog post to wish the best of luck and safe trips to the Kittens in the Breeders' Cup. Also, because of Breeders' Cup, I will not be able to do previews for maiden races for the next few days. I have indicated the entries for November 6 and 7 below.Read More
With his versatility and powerful turn of foot, Interactif, a homebred son of Broken Vow trained by Todd Pletcher, certainly looms large in the one-mile contest. But anything can happen amongst inexperienced 2-year-olds and there are several starters that look intriguing -- some of them that could b...Read More
Kera's Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Mrs. K. by Dixieland Band) and Becky's Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Caterette by Cozzene) will break side-by-side in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, in posts 9 and 10. They are both 12-1. Rajiv Maragh rides Kera's Kitten and Julien Leparoux is up on Becky's Kitten.Read More
The pre-entries for the Breeders' Cup were released today. Kitten's Joy is the only one of our 2009 stallions represented, but he is represented in a big way with 5 offspring...Read More
Wertheimer and Frere's impressive homebred Interactif will be the likely favorite for the $1-million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IIT) Nov. 7 at Santa Anita, but the son of Broken Vow will have to defeat what is expected to be a full field in the one-mile event.Read More
  • Rossington · Interactif is a very impressive looking 2yr.old to me. He's a very physically fit, strong looking horse that races very smart for a 2yr.old, looking at times like an older horse. I personally think he's the best 2yr.old in training in the U.S. right now, dirt or turf. He is likely to get tested in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf by the European competition. Most particularly Viscount Nelson who is 4-2-1-1. Also from Pounced and Vale of York. Interactif is 4-3-0-0 and will likely be a slight favorite over Viscount Nelson going into the B.C. Juvenile Turf. It would be really surprising to me for this horse not to at the very least finish in the money on Breeders Cup day. · 834 days ago ·
