What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Kauai King...

He won the derby, the preakness and came 4th in the belmont
  • https://www.facebook.com/katie.monahan1 · My moms cousins owned Kauai King and gave my mom a portrait of him back in 1967 when I was 13, she gave it to me the year before she died. I grew up looking at this picture of the proud derby winner and dreamed of someday going to Maryland to see him. I'm grown now and appreciate his achievements much more. So very little written about him and very few pictures. · 100 days ago ·

  • Buckpasser · I remember this guy. A son of the great Native Dancer who avenged Dad's only loss. Almost had a TC win in a year where the top horses Buckpasser was injured and didn't come back until an undercard race on Belmont day and the great Graustark was retired due to injury. Sadly KK broke down in the Arlington Classic which Buckpasser won. I was rooting for him for the TC. Thank you for your post. Kaui King a forgotten champion. · 100 days ago ·

For today’s Monday Movie, filmmaker Jeff Krulik has mined the archives — the National Archives, that is. He’s found Preakness clips from the Universal Newsreel collection during the last decade those newsreels were produced. Among the famed winners in this nine-minute reel are the great Northern Dan...Read More
Ever since I was a very young racing fan, I have always looked forward to The Fountain of Youth Stakes. Perhaps as a youngster it was the catchy name that caught me eye, but as the first serious Kentucky Derby prep for the Eastern three-year-olds, no doubt it has been the stature of the race has kep...Read More

May 16, 1966 Until 4:32, Louisville time, last Saturday afternoon, the 92nd Kentucky Derby seemed likely to survive in the records as "the consolation Derby." Horsemen from everywhere, who converge on Churchill Downs more out of habit than anything else, complained all week that the 15 starters repr...Read More
