  • dubby30 · Not sure how you skip the Apple Blossom, I believe the excuse was she is used to Churchill or something, sounds like ducking to me, we’ve seen it before and we’ll see it again but with this mare coming off the layoff and coming back a 8.5f race with a purse structure of $500k and a Grade 1, then why would u target a $300k G2, are they afraid to come to Arkansas due to the monster in Havre De Grace that is awaiting the rest of this field. hmmmmmmmmmmm · 1114 days ago ·

I don’t know about you guys, but when it comes to handicapping a race, the name of a horse is a huge factor for me. Even though I can read a program and tell you what each statistic means, and whose past performances are the best, the name still stands out above everything else on the page.Read More

  • humphrey · There is an unwritten rule in horse racing: NEVER name a horse something that would not look good hanging over your mantle as odd named horses hardly EVER become champions. Equipoise, Esterminator, Domino, Imp, Stage Door Johnny, Run the Gauntlet....great names. · 1463 days ago ·

It has been well documented how loaded trainer Todd Pletcher is for this year's Kentucky Derby. Well, it appears he will be well-represented in the Kentucky Oaks as well. Devil May Care, a Grade 1 winner in her second career start, rebounded from a disappointing 3-year-old debut with a 2 3/4-length ...Read More
Trainer Todd Pletcher sent out three winners on Thursday’s 10-race program at Gulfstream Park and jockey John Velazquez rode three winners, the two teaming up for two. Pletcher extended his lead in the standings bidding for a seventh consecutive meet title and Velazquez remains second behind Javier...Read More
The Florida Derby will almost certainly point out contenders for the Kentucky Derby and the Bonnie Miss for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles should yield a leading prospect or two for the Kentucky Oaks (G1) the day before at Churchill Downs. The probable favorites in the field of six 3-year-old fi...Read More
  • somadevi · I think that one reason why I and others are so fascinated by Christine Daae is her uncanny resemblance to her maternal and paternal great, great, greatgrandfather Secretariat. She is a magnificent filly possessing the radiant chestnut coat, three white socks (on the front left one-unlike BR), and conformation of Big Red. I had chills down my spine when I saw the beautiful appearance and poise of Christine at Gulfstream when she came into the paddock at Gulfstream Park on Jan, 15th, 2010. Oh my what a sight to behold. And then she won her maiden easily with little effort. I have only seen Big Red on tv and film and photos. But her uncanny resemblance to Secretariat was something else. God keep her safe and strong and we shall see what the future holds. I'm sure Big Red is laughing up in horse heaven. · 1491 days ago ·

It can't be a good sign at all that the weekend cards at Aqueduct were so very desultory after that extended break during the week preceding. I've always been a fan of winter racing here, but I'm having a really hard time sticking with it at this time..Read More

Rose Family Stable’s 3-year-old Florida homebred filly Joanie’s Catch obviously thrives on racing, most recently finishing a game second in the $100,000 Old Hat Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 9, and is back for more as she makes her 15th career start for trainer Barry Rose in Sunday’s $150,0...Read More
