  • medlocke · Espoir City is a very talented colt to say the least. He lends a very good international flavor to this year's Breeders Cup Classic. 6 wins and 2 place efforts in 9 lifetime starts. 4 of his 6 win's are G1 victories. He likes to do his running on the front end, and his plenty of front running speed. I would expect to see Espoir City somewhere very near the front of the race along with Haynesfield and Quality Road. If there's a knock on this colt that could be called into question, it would be his stamina? How well, if at all, will Espoir City handle 10 furlongs? Of his 9 races on conventional dirt in Japan, Espoir City has raced 6 times at a mile, and 3 times at 9 furlongs. He's yet to ever attempt 1-1/4 in his career. The talent is certainly there for all to see with this colt. But the Breeders Cup Classic field, IMO, will be a very difficult first time testing ground to try and answer the 10 furlong question with? TJMO. · 965 days ago ·

  • curlin · Honestly, compared to american or european racing how tough is japanese racing? I mean, are the quality of horses on par with what we have here. I doubt it personally. · 961 days ago ·

No, it is not what you are thinking, a mule did not actually win a grade 1 stakes this weekend. Rather it was one of the so called mules that ran in the Fleur de Lis Stakes on June 12 at Churchill Downs. Trainer Marty Wolfson, who last won the Princess Rooney Handicap (gr. Rachel Alexandra, under a confident ride by Calvin Borel, toyed with her four rivals in Saturday's Grade 2 Fleur de Lis at Churchill Downs. • grey32 · There's dirty little secret that no one will speak of, Zen doesn travel because she doesn't travel well and her connections are afraid to upset her tooo much. She thrives in her own enviroment but; gets upset with strange places. None of the will say it out loud, don't plan on seeing her out of Cal before the BC. · 1098 days ago ·

  • humphrey · History will repeat itself. Read Hillenbrands book on Seabiscuit and the trouble in setting up the match is exposed for all to see. Same thing here: what distance? what surface? when? EVERY major match race of tthe twentieth century from Zev/Papyrus to Foolish to Tyepcast/|Convenience has gone to the front runner so any race would have to have a field of at least 7 to satisfy any resemblance of a fair contest. It won't happen unless it is the Breeder's Cup and the RA crowd won't want 10 furlongs. · 1098 days ago ·

  • mdracing69 · I agree medlocke. There is pressure on Rachel to win and look good doing it. If she goes down in flames her racing career may be over. Hope she bounces back with an impressive score so the Rachel-Zenyatta dream race can get back on track. · 1101 days ago ·

  • grey32 · medlock - this is one of those time that I agree 100%. Today is either a new beginning or the end. There is no question about it, no excuses, no tears, no bull. I do believe that her grueling campaign last year and the absurd incompetence by her connections this year may have or have hurt this fine mare. People really don't understand how grueling her campaign last year were and how reckless her lack of training were this year. Clown who bash a horse as though she actually had some input or was consulted in any of this, who insinuate that somehow she plotted to cheat some other horse, just makes me crazy. She's a horse try to please her handlers, doing the best she can with whats going on around her. She is a great horse and nothing anyone says or does changes that. It amazes me that so many are willing to shame themselves by bashing a horse, if you mad or angry bash her connections. Celebrate the horse. · 1101 days ago ·

Among other things, a horse race is a test of speed and class.
