Older Comments about Interactif...

I was very happy to see Interactif get back into the winner's circle today. Winning the G2 Hall of Fame Stakes at Saratoga. Every since his 3rd place effort in the 2009 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf. I've felt all season that Interactif was one of the more talented American 3yr.old colts. His problem was. Almost all of that talent is on turf. Which is not very beneficial to an American 3yr.old colt. Given that all of the classic American races for 3yr.old's are held on conventional dirt. A surface that Interactif tried. But just never really adapted too. He also never really adapted to synthetics for that matter. No doubt. This colt's best race is going to come over turf. I'd love to see Interactif go back to this year's Breeders Cup. I'm just not sure which turf race you would enter him in? He'd stand very little chance of trying to dethrone Goldikova in the Breeders Cup Mile(Turf). Especially given how fantastic she's looked so far in 2010. Having already won the G2 Prix d' Ispahan, the G1 Queen Anne Stakes, and the G1 Prix Rothschild. I'm not sure Interactif could get the 12 furlongs for the Breeders Cup Turf? So if Pletcher does indeed intend to take Interactif to Churchill Downs for the Breeders Cup races this year? His best option, IMO, may lye in the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint. JMO.
Today, Steve Haskin of bloodhorse.com reported that Interactif will be entered in the Belmont Stakes.
Pletcher now saying Interactif may go to the Derby after all

  • arazi · I actually like this horse quite a bit. I don't understand the hesitation. Some people said that his work yesterday was great. Others disagree. But this field is lacking good closers - and I think he fits that bill and deserves a long look. · 2526 days ago
Thought he was the best horse going into the Blue Grass, but with a strange pace and surface, felt like he wouldn't necessarily win. So now, what to make of the result?
  • Arrrgy · It looked like he was setting up perfectly to win it. When he hit the 1/8 pole, he hit bottom. ? · 2542 days ago

I'm so glad to see Interactif finally getting some respect in the power rankings for the 2010 Kentucky Derby. I've been extremely high on this colt every since he was still a 2yr.old racing on turf. He's got an outstanding bloodline, and a ton of talent to go with it. My only real concern with Interactif is how he will handle a conventional dirt surface? He's proven effective of both turf and synthetic tracks, but to my knowledge doesn't have any dirt track starts in his racing career. I'm not too sure, that like Lookin At Lucky, at least one Derby prep on the dirt wouldn't have improved this colt's chances of winning the roses. But even without it, he's still got the talent to make a legitemant run in the Ky. Derby. IMO. He'll certainly be up against some real proven competition on dirt at the Derby, but Interactif may still be a pretty good Across The Board Bet.
I'm quite fond of any of the Broken Vow progeny. Love this guy on the Turf!!!
Worked a half-mile in 49 4/5 on Sunday (3/7) at Palm Meadows. Pletcher says he will go to the San Felipe, assuming he can get there. Interesting that Bim Bam, who beat him on the turf last time, flopped as the favorite in the Palm Beach on Saturday.
  • cigar · Bim Bam was toasted... too many big efforts in a row, he was destined to regress. Coa had nothing he said. · 2575 days ago
Of all the American 2yr.old's in training, Iteractif impresses me as much as any of them, to include Lookin At Lucky and Jackson Bend. He's only had one bad race in his career, his only out of the money finish. He ran a very respectable 3rd to Pounced and Bridgetown in the B.C. Juvenile Turf. I'd love to see them do with this colt what they did with Barbaro. Barbaro, as you well know started out on turf as well, and then they decided to try him on the dirt. The rest is history. I think they should give Interactif a try on the dirt. If he take's to it, he could be a real contender in this year's Kentucky Derby. IMO.
  • mdracing69 · I agree with your thoughts on Interactif. He broke maiden in dirt sprint bow and moved up when stretched out on turf. Love his running style versatility and would like to see Pletcher give him another whirl on the main. · 2640 days ago
  • ruby · Absolutely corrrect that this guy could be a Derby contender. Can get two turns and has the right running style. · 2640 days ago
This is the most impressive 2yr.old, by far, that I've seen race this year, on any surface. Provided he come's out of the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf in good order, I'm curious to see if at some point early into his 3yr.old campaign if his connections will try him over conventional dirt. Lot's of good horses have started out on the grass to be switched to dirt and go on to have excellent careers. Barbaro was one who started out on turf and was switched to dirt and came into Kentucky undefeated on both surface's to go on and win the 2006 Kentucky Derby.
If there's a better 2yr.old in the country right now, dirt or turf, I've not seen it. Interactif is a very impressive looking 2yr.old with a world of potential. Viscount Nelson, the very good European 2yr.old may push him a little harder than he's been pushed yet in any of his races that he's ran. Undefeated going into the B.C. Juvenile Turf, I think he'll still be at race's end.
