  • ILuvTurfRacing · Intello will stand for 2 years, 2014 & 2015 at Cheveley Park Stud at Newmarket and then he'll return to France to the Head family's Haras Du Quesnay farm for the next 2 years according to an article on Sportinglife.com. · 1282 days ago
I find it interesting that days prior to his recent win in the G3 Prix Du Prince d'Orange, Andre Fabre was telling the media he harbored doubts about Intello's stamina to stay 2400 meters. Now a mere 2 days after his win at Longchamp, Fabre is calling Intello his best chance of winning the Arc. There's no question Intello's a very classy horse, but one still unproven at 2400 meters. I personally think Flintshire's still Fabre's best shot at winning the Arc, especially if the ground is a bit firmer than it was in the G2 Prix Niel. Flintshire's turn of foot in the final 200 or so meters of his wins in the G3 Prix Du Lys & G1 Grand Prix De Paris, both over 2400 meters, looks like the speed of a 5f or 6f sprinter more than a middle distance type. I just can't see Intello winning the Arc, but I think he'd be hell on wheels to beat in the G1 Champion Stakes at Ascot over 2000 meters.

  • EP Taylor · I think the weight break she will receive will help immensly. Can't wait for the stretch drive in that race. Treve , Orfevre, Novellist, and Kizuna all battling it out a couple hundred mtrs out. Fro what I am reading as of today in the Guardian, this is lining up to be the best Arc since 1986. They said in the ARC of 1986 , it had the highest average Timform rating of 129.1. This years renewal will have an average Timeform rating of 129 flat. That is not including horses like Camelot, Trading Leather, Al Kazeem's ratings if they had been entered which would have made the rating higher then 86. · 1309 days ago
  • paul.nathan.946 · kazeem and camelot are entered. Not sure about trading leather though can see the champions stakes on the cart for him maybe a trip to asia · 1309 days ago
Intello beats Morandi by 3/4 lengths to win the 10f G3 Prix Du Prince d'Orange at Longchamp. Now we await Andre Fabre's decision on whether Intello ends his season in the 12f Arc De Triomphe at Longchamp or the 10f Champion Stakes at Ascot? As recently as 2 or 3 days ago Fabre was still admitting to harbouring doubts about Intello's stamina and he certainly has no shortage of horses to run in the Arc this year with the likes of Flintshire, Ocovango, Sky Hunter, & Vancouverite. My opinion is the Champion Stakes is a more winnable race for Intello than the Arc will be.

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @Euro Trash, I'm a big fan of Intello, but let me put it another way, he can and I believe likely would win the Champion Stakes. He won't win the Arc, and frankly I'd be hard pressed to even use him in any of my tri-fecta or even super-fecta's in the race. · 1312 days ago

This story came out today on the AtTheRace.com web-site: Andre Fabre will decide whether Intello ends his season in the G1 Prix De l'Arc de Triomphe at 12f or the G1 Champion Stakes at 10f after he runs in the G3 Prix Du Prince d'Orange at 10f on Saturday at Longchamp. Intello is prominent in the Arc betting, but Fabre admits to harbouring doubts about the colt's stamina and expects the run this weekend to help him decide whether to stay home with Intello or travel to Ascot in October. Speaking for myself, I think Intello's win in the G1 Prix Du Jockey Club at 10-1/2f has been his best performance to date and I think time will prove races at 10 to 10-1/2f will be the distance that best suits him. I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see Intello in the Arc, but I am saying it's a really big ask to step up to 12f for the first time against horses like Orfevre, Treve, Novellist, Kizuna, Flintshire, & Ruler of the World that thrive over the 12f trip. I'm a big fan of Intello, but I personally see the G1 Champion Stakes at 10f at Ascot as a more winnable race for Intello than the G1 Prix De l'Arc de Triomphe at 12f.
Kind of interesting that when the entries came out yesterday for the Champions Day races at Ascot in October, Intello was only entered in the G1 Champion Stakes at 2000 meters, not cross entered in the G1 QE II Stakes at 1600 meters also. Declaration of War, Toronado, & Sky Lantern all 3 had entries for both races, but only the 1 entry in the Champion Stakes for Intello. That makes me ponder if the Prix Jacques Le Marois on Sunday might not be Intello's last intended 1600 meter target for awhile and if a step back in trip isn't in the offing soon. I'm not suggesting his connections are or even should be pondering a step up to 2400 meters for the Prix Niel followed by the Arc, I'm not sure that distance will suit Intello? That's why I very much like the Champion Stakes entry for him. He's a proven winner at distances from 1600 to 2100 meters, and I think he'd take a ton of beating at Ascot no matter if Al Kazeem, Mukhadram, Cirrus Des Aigles and all of the other older heavyweights are in the field or not? JMO.
Intello is generally about 6-1 ante-post in most markets for the Arc right now. But dropping back to 1600 meters and down to G3 level for the Prix Messidor after you've just won over 2100 meters at G1 level in the Prix Du Jockey Club, to be followed by another run at 1600 meters in the G1 Prix Jacques Le Marois next just doesn't give me the sense at all that Intello is a horse that's being pointed toward a 2400 meter races at Longchamp in October.
  • paul.nathan.946 · Bookies tactics fabre has never once said he will go for the arc. · 1359 days ago
  • EP Taylor · His connections like the BC. Maybe a race at Royal Ascot for the QEII stakes then Santa Anita?. Hoping at least. · 1358 days ago
At present, Intello is a 6-1 joint ante-post favorite with Al Kazeem for this year's Arc, but given the direction Andre Fabre's going in with Intello you have to wonder if the Arc is really the end game Intello's connections are looking at for him? His pedigree suggest that 12f shouldn't be an issue, but if the Arc is really the long range target, why drop back in trip again after his win in the Prix Du Jockey Club over 10-1/2f? If Intello's going to the Arc, why isn't Andre Fabre eying the Grand Prix De Paris and/or Prix Niel over 12f with him instead of dropping back to a mile for the Prix Messidor and what looks like will be the Prix Jacques Le Marois for his next start, also over a mile. Just sayin'.

  • Euro Trash · They do seem to be concentrating on 1m races for Intello. But they did for Lope de Vega and then ran him also. · 1383 days ago
  • ILuvTurfRacing · @Euro Trash, I had forgotten about Lope De Vega but that's a fair point. They dropped him back in trip to a mile for the Prix Jean-Prat after he'd won the Prix Du Jockey Club and ended up sending him to the Arc. · 1383 days ago
If this colt came over fot the BC I will move hell and high water to get there to see him. I will not miss the chance of a lifetime again. Sad story time, I was actually invited to go to the 2010 breeders cup with a good frind of mine .. and at the last second I chickened out. I am still kicking myself over that. I missed seeing Gio Ponti & Goldikova two of my favorites, as well as the Zenyatta/Blame showdown.

Wins again - I really like this colt.
  • On The Gallop's · Easily too. That was a nice prep for the Vermielle. I believe Euro trash said they might be staying in France leading up to the ARC. I have been reading that some believe this colt will run in Mile races and go To america for the BC Mile. Wins the G3 Prix Messidor, running his career record to 6-5-0-1. Currently 6-1 joint ante-post favorite with Al Kazeem for the G1 Prix De l'Arc de Triomphe in October.

Very classy horse!! I didn't even realize how classy Intello actually was the first time I saw him race when he won the listed Feilden Stakes at Newmarket back in April. Needless to say now, if he'd gotten just a bit of luck at Longchamp, this colt could very easily already have wins in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains and G1 Prix Du Jockey Club on his resume'. If he goes on to prove 12f is within his wheelhouse in the G1 Grand Prix De Paris or G2 Prix Niel, and being another son of the mighty Galileo it's hard to imagine he won't, I'll guarantee you he'll be one of the favorites for the Arc De Triomphe come October with that weight for age break he'll get for being a 3yo.
If Galileo keeps being bred back to Danehill Mares look out. So far they have clicked with positive results.

This horse could very well be the best 3 year old on the Planet on Turf. Another German Bred, which is so HUGE for German racing right now.
The real ruler of the world? Galileo! His son, Intello wins the French Derby. This on the heels of Ruler of the World's wins yesterday in the Epsom Derby!
