I still feel really bad that Icon Project had to be retired. She had shown so much promise in 09. I would have loved to have seen her in the B.C. Ladies Classic this year. Not many people know this, but Icon Project, in 2008 was 2nd to Dar Re Mi in a race in Great Britian, which was the race that Dar Re Mi broke her maiden in. Dar Re Mi is certainly one of the world's best fillies. Icon Project finishing a close 2nd to her should have been a clue of thing's to come from her.
  • arazi · I'm glad you said that. Icon Project was one of the most exciting horses of 2009, outside of Rachel and Zenyatta, that is. But because she only ran a couple of big races, she will largely be forgotten in no time. I believe she also had one of the top Beyer figs of the year.   • rossington · I agree Cigar, a very talented filly. I don't think we'd even seen her best yet. Taking Rachael Alexandra and Zenyatta out of the equation, it would be tough to call between Icon Project and Careless Jewel which one had looked the most impressive in victory this year. Both drawing off and leaving fields by 12 or 13 lengths. I remember one field that Icon Project completely ran away from had both Unbridled Belle and Swift Temper in the race, both pretty good fillies in their own right. · 1305 days ago ·

  • horses · Icon Project ran a couple of the most impressive races of the year, outside of Rachel. It would have been awesome to see her match up against Zenyatta and Careless Jewel. Just imagine if Zenyatta goes in the Classic... then Careless Jewel is the favorite and could have an easy go of it. Couldn't have been a much easier spot for Rachel to jump in... · 1305 days ago ·

  • medlocke · Icon Project is definitely one of the "now" fillies. Still, though, I think she'll have to bring her very best "A" game to beat Zenyatta. If Zenyatta runs against the girls and not the guys. Say what you will, the big "Zen" just has a nose for the wire and knows how to find it. Another filly I'm interested in seeing again, despite a long layoff, is Stardom Bound. I don't see her beating Icon Project or Zenyatta but I wouldn't be surprised if she were to hit the board in the Ladies Classic. · 1327 days ago ·
