What the Nation is saying about I Want Revenge...

With a powerful move around the far turn, Duke of Mischief swept to the lead and opened up to a 2 ¼ length win in the Grade 3, $300,000 Iselin Stakes before a crowd of 13,404 at Monmouth Park on Saturday. After sitting off slow fractions of :24 4/5 for the quarter and :49 2/5 for the half-mile, Duk...Read More
When the field assembles for this Saturday’s $300,000 Philip H. Iselin Stakes at Monmouth Park, one name will certainly stick out in the minds of novice horse players and serious handicappers alike - I Want Revenge.Named the morning line favorite in last year’s Kentucky Derby, I Want Revenge was for...Read More
I Want Revenge, one of the top 3-year-olds of 2009 who was injured the day before the Kentucky Derby, is expected to continue his comeback at Monmouth Park on Saturday, Aug. 21, when he goes in the 76th running of the $300,000 Philip H. Iselin Stakes (G3).   The 4-year-old I Want Revenge, a so...Read More
Trainer Richard Dutrow Jr. had a quartet of horses on Saratoga Race Course’s main track this morning for six-furlong works: undefeated Trickmeister, multiple graded-stakes winner D’ Funnybone, promising 2-year-old Boys At Tosconova, and last year’s Grade 1 Wood Memorial winner, I Want Revenge.  ...Read More
Grade 2 Suburban Handicap winner Haynesfield, who was the lone New York-bred in the race, came out of Saturday’s 1 1/8th mile effort in good order, said Toby Sheets, assistant to trainer Steve Asmussen.   “He came out of the race well,” said Sheets of Turtle Bird Stable’s 4-year-old, whose&nbs...Read More
Haynesfield enjoyed a perfect trip under Ramon Dominguez Saturday afternoon at Belmont Park to win the 124th running of the Grade 2, $300,000 Suburban Handicap as favored I Want Revenge settled for third in his comeback bid.Read More
  • humphrey · Upset? Hardly. I have been discussing these types of injuries with our track vet and to paraphrase her "They NEVER come back the same even if they still have the heart the wheels are there to propel them." You don't bring back an iffy animal directly in a grade one...That is the Dutrow swagger again biting him in the posterior. NOT a single work was handily as the protection mode was on. · 66 days ago
Independence Day weekend always provides a number of terrific wagering opportunities and Saturday’s racing nationwide does just that.  In addition to the Suburban Handicap, which marks the return of I Want Revenge and Regal Ransom, we have the $300,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 at Belmont.  The Un...Read More
After resounding victories in the Grade 3 Gotham and the Grade 1 Wood Memorial last year at Aqueduct Racetrack, I Want Revenge appeared poised on the brink of stardom as the solid favorite for the Kentucky Derby.   Only hours before the Derby, however, it was discovered he had an ankle injury,...Read More
  • humphrey · I wish the horse well but his style is very late and coming off a substantial injury one has to be against him with both hands. Convocation will be the controlling pace and that one will have to run him down along with Haynesfield · 68 days ago
He will most certainly be overbet. Big time. $ making opportunity.
One of the most visually impressive performances of 2009 for me was one I was actually privileged to be at in person. The 2009 Super Derby featured a compelling victory by Godolphin Stable's Regal Ransom, who just crushed a quality field of three-year-olds that included Blame, who has gone on as...Read More
Godolphin Stable’s Regal Ransom is scheduled to have his final serious move tomorrow morning for next Saturday’s Grade 2 Suburban Handicap, with assistant trainer Rick Mettee penciling in a five-furlong breeze for the son of Distorted Humor.   “He’s doing really well,” said Mettee of the 4-year...Read More
I Want Revenge continued preparations Thursday morning for his return to racing, breezing seven furlongs out of the gate at Aqueduct Racetrack.   With jockey Ramon Dominguez filling in for I Want Revenge’s regular rider, Joe Talamo, whose flight from California was delayed, the strapping dark ...Read More
  • medlocke · Really nice to see I Want Revenge close to making it back to active racing again. This one of the colt's from the class of 2009 3yr.old's that I believe had a world of talent, and that the sky was really the limit for. The way he dwelted in the 2009 Wood Memorial, and was still able to overcome that and run down the competition was an incredible feat. I just hope I Want Revenge comes back as sound and in somewhere close to the form that he displayed in 2009. If he returns sound, and get's on a winning role, could this be an unforeseen future Classic contender? Now, if we can just get The Pamplemousse back to the track racing actively again, all we be well. · 80 days ago
  • humphrey · This is a tad anbitious a comeback challenge on an injuried, reconditioned leg.....I would bet against him. · 79 days ago
Another triple crown season is in the books and the count is now at 32 consecutive years without a horse taking down the three race series. So what did we learn?1) The best horse during the Derby...Read More
Trainer Rick Dutrow, Jr. could be a tough opponent in several upcoming graded stakes races for 3-year-olds here in New York.   “We’re going to the one-mile race on Belmont Day [the Grade 1 Acorn on Saturday, June 5] with Amen Hallelujah,” Dutrow said of the Grade 2 Santa Ynez and Grade 2 Davon...Read More
Very little has gone smoothly for I Want Revenge since he won the Wood Memorial more than 13 months ago, so why should his first workout since April 2009 be any different? I Want Revenge, now in the barn of Richard Dutrow Jr., returned to the work tab Friday, breezing three furlongs in 38.25 seconds...Read More
Jeff Mullins, who last year at this time was trying to get the Kentucky Derby morning-line favorite I Want Revenge healthy enough to run in America’s greatest race, was suspended 30 days Wednesday for a TCO2 violation — commonly known as “milkshaking” a horse — in 2008, according...Read More
To anyone who thinks Sidney's Candy can be beat in the 136th Kentucky Derby next Saturday at Churchill Downs, jockey Joe Talamo has just one question:"Who dat?" This has been quite a year for Talamo. He appeared in the TV show "Jockeys." He went on the "Tonight" show during Conan O'Brien's brief sti...Read More

  • arazi · From the story... It was reported that co-owner IEAH Stables was going to buy Lanzman’s share of I Want Revenge, but that transaction has not been finalized and is the subject of a lawsuit. Lanzman said I Want Revenge is at a training center in Kentucky and could run this summer. · 169 days ago
Here's another great 2009 Kentucky Derby contender, literally scratched the morning of the Derby that fell by the wayside to injury. Many of the better contenders and runners from last years Derby pool got injured, with some now retired. Pioneer of The Nile, Dunkirk, and Papa Clem being the most recent to join the ranks of the racing unemployed. Friesan Fire, General Quarters, and Musket Man all sustained injuries, but have now managed to make it back to the track, and have successes. Friesan Fire winning the Louisiana Handicap with General Quarters running 2nd. And Musket Man returning to win the Super Stakes at Tampa Bay in February. Quality Road, who missed the 09' Derby with quarter cracks, and the 09' B.C. Classic from throwing a starting gate tantrum has bounced back to win the 2010 Hal's Hope and a dominating track record performance in the Donn Handicap. But I Want Revenge and The Pamplemousse, two of the better 09' Derby hopefuls, IMO, have dropped completely off of the radar without any word of any kind. After I Want Revenge was able to overcome a terrible Wood Memorial start to get up for the win, and then the injury on Derby morning, he's completely disappeared. The same with The Pamplemousse after being scratched the morning of the 09' Santa Anita Derby, completely disappeared. I hope both of these great colts are able to make it back to the track soon.
