What the Horse Racing Nation is talking about...

There's no secret that the aftermath of I Want Revenge's last second Derby scratch has been anything but smooth for David Lanzman and IEAH Stables. What's shocking is the abject level of hatred being tossed around and the clear and total dysfunction of this partnership. We could recap it further ...Read More
IEAH Stables has bought out David Lanzman’s interest in champion Stardom Bound, according to Daily Racing Form, which interviewed both parties Feb. 12. The publication also reported that negotiations are continuing for IEAH to buy out Lanzman’s half-interest in grade I winner I Want Revenge.Read More
Coming off a year where it seemed as if a new Kentucky Derby contender emerged every week, the 2009 group was quite a bit more consistent with the creme rising to the top as the calendar moved towards April.  One serious player that emerged in early March was I Want Revenge, a son of [...]Read More
Since it's December 23rd, what could be a better way to celebrate this year's racing calendar, but with a touch of Festivus. As you know, Festivus comes but once a year and features such things as "Feats of Strength" and the "Airing of Grievances."Read More
It may seem early to get excited about a Kentucky Derby prospect, but it's time to state the obvious: Lookin at Lucky is an exceptional horse who, if he stays healthy, might be very hard to beat come May 1 at Churchill Downs.Read More
I Want Revenge will break from post 13. But, perplexing to horseplayers, top condenders Pioneerof The Nile and Dunkirk selected posts 16 and 15, when post 6 was open.Read More

  • mdracing69 · Posts are frequently overrated. In the last 14 Derbies, 6 were won from posts 15-20. The inner posts will force the hand of an early/pressing type, so Musket Man might have to be used a bit to avoid getting shuffled back. Friesan Fire will break from post 6, and he could be aggressively handled as the inside speed. I like the races within the race. I Want Revenge will break from post 13, and I see Gomez aboard The Nile shadowing him intently from post 16. · 319 days ago
  • Medlocke · 10-10-09 My wife and I both bet on the Kentucky Derby and I was just telling her this morning that I bet Mike Battaglia caught some serious heat for making Mine That Bird, who came in as the Canadian champion 50-1. He runs today in the Goodwood Stakes at Santa Anita, his final prep for the Breeder's Cup Classic, and he's 7-2 on the morning line. What a difference a few months make. · 155 days ago
IEAH Stables has filed court documents claiming that David Lanzman failed to disclose injuries to I Want Revenge that eventually led to the 3-year-old colt being scratched on the morning of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), for which he was the morning- line favorite.Read More
American racing not only avoided the dreaded spectacle of a catastrophic injury on broadcast television during the Triple Crown season, but the industry also illuminated examples of detection and cautious action with several high-profile horses.Read More
David J. Lanzman Racing Stable has filed suit against IEAH Stables, claiming breach of contract in connection with IEAH's purchase of half-interest in I Want Revenge, the morning-line favorite for this year's Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! • Duvalier · - The likely winning exacta, and possibly trifecta, are watching the NBC telecast from their stalls... Quality Road, Rachel Alexandra and I Want Revenge. Think you're right...maybe Mine That Bird could have rounded out the superfecta. One thing I know is I couldn't have come up with him on any of my tickets. · 313 days ago
  • arazi · Mine That Bird won't hit the board in Baltimore. (OK, maybe a late running third) I hope it rains, and they pound him, I still say he's off the exacta for sure. · 313 days ago
The injury that kept I Want Revenge out of the May 2 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) will keep him from racing for months and threaten his career if he doesn't respond well to therapy, the horse's veterinarian said May 5."Part of the prognosis is determined by the horse's response to...Read More
Latest news on this guy says he's in rough shape... bad injury, likely retired... will wait and see for a few months, but we know how these turn out.
"He'll recuperate at Dr. (Foster) Northrop's farm in Kentucky," Lanzman said. "There's no reason for him to go back to Southern California right now. "The Travers S. ([G1] at Saratoga on August 29) is our main goal, with a prep in the Jim Dandy ([G2] on August 1). That's assuming that all we're deal...Read More
When the announcement came out around 8:30 Saturday morning and I Want Revenge’s Kentucky Derby was over before it ever started, the 19-year-old heart of jockey Joe Talamo began to break.“I’m not doing bad,” he said with a sad smile after the third race was run on a sloppy Churchill Downs strip. “Bu...Read More

Last year’s Derby was easy. Big Brown stood out a mile over 19 overmatched 3-year-olds. This year’s Derby, however, is another story altogether. Whether you’re betting at a racetrackRead More
However, the fact that I Want Revenge made this successful transition has absolutely no relevance to the chances of the other synthetic-track specialists in the Derby field. Perhaps one of them will improve on dirt, too, but the probabilities are against them. Last year four horses came into the Der...Read More
  • mdracing69 · Mr. BSF's Derby logic escapes me. He is basically saying that former synthetic specialist I Want Revenge made a successful dirt transition, but the other synthetic specialists will flop because the '08 synthetic crew struggled at Churchill. Huh? How would Mr. Beyer feel about I Want Revenge if he never left SoCal and made his dirt debut in the Derby? Based on that logic, he would've tossed his own pick! · 318 days ago
